If you can beat someone IN the UFC, should you be in the UFC?

Part of me thought this was going to be a Cody Gibson hate thread.

Pretty much every pro fighter could beat CM Punk so not neccasarily.

How am I trolling? You really think UFC would sign Shields again? He's old, recently cut, and previously failed a drug test. Not to mention boring.

If Jake beats Palhares and becomes a free agent again I could see them bringing him back.

There are a handful of guys in wwe right now that would likely beat cm punk in an mma fight

No. Just being signed by them doesn't denote quality for any fighter. It's not about fighting for them it's about who you beat, they just happen to have most of the people that are worth beating.

of course. askren could probably beat almost everyone in the ufc's WW division yet he's not in the ufc only because dana gonna dana

Cough.. Kelly v walsh... cough

Okami & Shields are not in the UFC & they can beat most UFC fighters in their division.
The $dollar$ logic is what governs UFC.

Simple question

If a guy outside the UFC can beat guys in the UFC (in their weight class), should they have the option of being in the UFC?

Do you mean could possibly beat, would likely beat or would almost certainly beat? No, no and yeah.

The ufc needs to make sure every person they release would lose to everyone else on the roster. Good points in here.

No because they have had some guys in the history of the UFC I am confident I could kick the shit out of if given the opportunity like greg ranger stott, joe son, and some awful guys that they probably found on the street to pad records. That does not make one a world class fighter. It just means I or someone similar can go get embarrassed by good fighters now. There needs to be some type of criteria. They sign some really bad people sometimes.

I dont think a blanket rule should count like that. Because of style matchups and people declining

Tito was 1-5-1 when leaving the ufc, should he have gotten to stay because that win over bader? What if he lost 3 more? Should he get to stay because he could potentially beat bader again?

Pretty much anyone can beat "fisticuffs BJ". Motivated BJ, no.

Its not about whether skill wise they are good enough.

People like Shields and Fitch are good fighters, but they command fees a lot higher than their worth to the UFC. Their value to other companies is much higher, if only on name recognition alone.
