If you are John Kavanagh, how do you train Conor to get him back on track?

Cardio is genetic. You can only work it to a certain ceiling and that's it.

That's not accurate. Extreme levels of cardio have a genetic basis but anyone (unless you have asthma or something along those lines) can develop decent cardio in a sport with correct training.

Conor's cardio is far far below the standard for such a small weight class. then again he doesn't do road work or any real cardio. We've seen video of him doing sprints (which are useless at building long burn cardio).

He doesn't like to do it and is dumb enough to think he doesn't need it.

Conor will never get better than this. This is the best he can be. Deal with it.

Hire a Muay Thai coach so he learns what do when someone tries to kick his legs. There's loads of good Muay Thai people in the UK that could train him.

It's easy to say "Change Camps", but the ramifications of that could be extremely negative. He needs to get in the gym and train year round or retire. He has the money to bring in whoever he wants to train him and wouldn't have to compromise the loyalty that is very important to him.

Kavanagh is a yes man who wouldn't tell his meal ticket anything that he doesn't want to hear.

IMHO, Conor fell in love with the idea that he has KO power at LW and it was reinforced by his Cowboy fight.. I believe he thought he was going to hit Dustin with a couple of punches and that was it. His power did not seem to carry to LW and his cardio is terrible..

I think he should retire or move camps...

Imagine a Rocky story where Conor trains with Nate Diaz to return and win the belt. Or even Khabib. He definitely needs to hire his movement coach again. Even though everyone laughed at that guy Conor was much better at moving under his tutelage. I would have him spend at least 6 months in the mountains and create a camp where he is surrounded by former opponents. Max Holloway, Nate Diaz if you could get him. They would definitely push Conor much farther. Probably wouldn't happen but would be awesome if it did.

John Kavanaugh should tell Conor to go train at another camp/gym with motivated training partners and coaches.

Send him to brasil or russia and have him spa and train properly, conor would break and retire I guarantee that. He couldn't handle tough training, just want artem etc to beat up on and use as punch bags and grappling dummies

"He may want to go Japan or somewhere where the competition is a littler easier." - Kenny Florian.

Nothing Kavenfruad can do will get this hype train back on the tracks.

People underrate the role of genes in physical stamina. I'm sure Conor works out really hard and is probably close to his potential for endurance.

Do you really think he's gone hos whole career and never thought "aw shucks maybe I should work on cardio"?
