If this is true, then Khamzat will lose

Honestly if he beats a "Secret Juice" Costa (if Costa makes weight) he's earned the shot. Who else is there for him to beat? MW is pretty thin and has never had a lot of good wrestlers. The few there have been (Chael, Weidman) have won titles or come close to winning titles. Romero is a great wrestler too but he didn't wrestle much in MMA, and he was still in contention for a while.

But there's a certain segment of "fans" who will never give any kind of respect or props to Khamzat for whatever reason. He could fight the entire top 10 in a single night and win every fight by first round finish and still people would find reasons to hate

Same shit with Islam. Then when the fights don't pan out, they say they're inactive. There's tons of ducking on the backend. I thought he was ready when he beat the #1 at WW (Colby doesn't count because he wasn't going to accept fights). It's going to be dumb if we're waiting until end of 2024 to see Khamzat get a title shot, when anybody watching his fights knows how much a beast he is.

Yeah the inactivity is a problem. It was an issue for Khabib and Islam as well, but once they got the belt, the fights started getting signed.

It'll be the same for Khamzat, hopefully.

But as big as I am on Khamzat, I think Shavkat is the real future. I see Shavkat getting the WW belt next year and eventually fighting Khamzat for the MW belt

it’s a 3 round fight. Him and Burns put on a barn burner for 15 mins and Khamzat still pushed the pace till the final seconds, even when tired.

Shavkat doesn’t have the wrestling chops to deal with the elite caucus wrestlers. He lost in the ammys to one.

I just can't forget how terrible Costa looked against a badly faded glass chinned and ridiculously gassed out Luke Rockhold. That version of Costa gets handled with ease by any ranked fighter.

But he does have the striking and aggression to give anybody problems, and being as well rounded as he is, he's got the tools to get it done against Khamzat.

Also Khamzat is a wrestler, not a Sambo guy like Islam and Khabib. Different styles completely. Khamzat is power and chain wrestling, not the grinding weardown of Khabib. Shavkat matches up favorably imo
