If the President does it, it's not Illegal

Can the President Obstruct Justice?

I wonder how many of the no votes would change if it were not trump and say someone like Obama or hillary

Like it or not, it's true.

"The President is not above the law!" is a nice saying and all, but it's simply false. He is the law.
Is there any circumstance under which you wouldn't be the first to deepthroat trump and swallow with a smile?
Your trump fetish is really something else.

Then you answered wrong, because the President and his acolytes are arguing that no action he takes, under any circumstances, is obstruction of justice.

Firing Comey is well within his rights as the president.

Murdering him is not.

I've come to realize that people most often use the term "well within" rights when describing something that is highly controversial and possibly not within rights. It usually means something more like "straining the right to its limits and possibly breaking it."

When Trump went up against Canada I thought "surely this is it".

Apparently not.

"It's not illegal" right now is pretty much the only thing people muster up in the defense of Trump. Forget about unethical, imoral, unpresidential. That standard is long one, as long as it doesn't warrant a prison sentence, it's ok.

Though with all the mental gymnastics surrounding this obstruction of justice defense, even those waters are getting muddy.

It's a complicated question, I would think that the President can absolutely illegally obstruct justice but that it would be extremely fact dependent, especially the "why". I gather that if it did happen that impeachment is the method by it's punished. But that's just me repeating what I've read from smarter and more informed lawyers elsewhere, I have no real idea personally...except that it's complicated.

Trump argues something categorically false that stands against all principles we hold as a democracy.... and CONSERVATIVES,SMALL GOVERNMENT CONSERVATIVES, respond with “well he’s right so suck it liberals!”....?!

Thank you Donald Trump. Thank you for proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that your supporters are literal traitors to our nation.

False. Straight up, inaccurate. But I can see how you wouldn’t know, you’re not even a citizen and you’re pretty stupid.

How you feeling bout those tariffs Heretics? I notice you don’t seem to wanna discuss a Trump issue that actually effects your country. SO STRANGE.

Still right here. Obama has still been unanimously voted down more than any other president for attempted overreach. Are you opposed to the constitution?

No but apparently you do. No other excuse for supporting a president saying he’s above democracy.

Nobody can really answer whether a sitting president can be indicted. I don't believe so, but nothing Trump has done is worthy of an indictment, or even an impeachment.

Well when the burden of proof for Trump fans is “show me video evidence of him and Putin planning to murder America while I close my eyes and cover my ears”, of course you’re gonna feel that way.

Thankfully the rest of us still live in reality.

The President is above the law. Sorry, it's true.

Already have discussed it. Step up your stalker game.

It’s been a while since I read it, but essentially

“As head of the executive branch, the president appoints the top officials for all federal agencies”.

Not to mention the entire premise rests on the absurd notion that changing an fbi Director stops an investigation.

Oh' really? Tell me what crime a President has ever gone to prison for then, or even been officially indicted for. Or do you believe they have never committed any crimes?

"I have never been indicted therefore am above the law!"

You should tell this to Trump. He seems to think otherwise.

"I have never been indicted therefore am above the law!"

Uhhh, correct? Seriously Pete, why are Presidents held to a different standard when they break the law? Is it perhaps because they have a different set of rules to play by, than the average citizen?

You're saying they are not above the law, so why don't you prove it? Give me a case where this nice little saying holds any weight at all. I'll wait.

And in Trump's world this means he can and will do whatever he wants

Uh, I don't have to prove anything dawg
The President is susceptible to the rule of law
Find me the part in the Constitution that says otherwise
I'll wait

Yeah, you do dawg. I can point to many examples of Presidents being above the law. Can you even point to ONE where they weren't?

I'll wait.

Oh hey look here's a constitution
I'll be damned... says it right there

"President is above the law."

Time for Trump to get out a chainsaw and finally kill Rosie O'Donnell on live tv

Why did Nixon leave office? I can't remember. Did he just get tired of being President?
