If Rountree had a better gas tank, would the fight have gone different?

Do you feel the gas tank was the big determining factor of the decline towards the end or do you still think Poatan was a more skilled fighter over Rountree?

That type of flurrying is unsustainable. Whittaker can do it cause of his size at middleweight. Roundtree while short is heavy for LHW and has a ton of power.

He was doing well rounds 1 and 2 because whenever Periera moved Roundtree would blast at him at mach 1

Dunno. Does he have a history of slowing down?

He was also getting his nose busted and front leg battered. That will make anyone look "tired".

He did great though. Khalil >>> Jamal

Nope. Technically superior fighter broke him down.

Khalil's got tons of heart though and had a puncher's chance.

That pace wasn't sustainable but yeah, his cardio has never been his strong point

I think the fight could have gone differently if he went all out in the first 2 rounds. He had Alex in trouble a couple of times, but didn't really risk taking advantage and leave himself too wide open. A long striking match was never going to work in his favor, even with a better gas tank.

Can't wing like that, was enough to keep Alex off him for a little while, but those deposits Alex made slowed Khalil down and during the second round, you could feel this was just matter of time tbh.

He would have won by decision. He was gassed after the 1st round pretty much. You can’t defend strikes if you have shitty cardio.

If Khalil had a better gas tank maybe Alex would also have a different strategy. He did started slow and said in the post fight that he was waiting for Khalil to gas.

I mean overextending and whiffing from across the cage causes that gas tank to deplete fast no matter how good of shape you are in. It's just unlikely for a 220+lb explosive athlete to be in and out like that without slowing down.

Accumulative damage is what ended him. He just lost his will to fight when Alex began swarming him with strikes. It's what he does when he loses. Doesn't matter if it's early or late in the fight.

He dumped his gas tank in the first two rounds. That was Alex's plan.

It's MMA and they're both insanely powerful strikers. It could have gone differently if nothing had been changed
