Mmm I think you're a little off. They didn't care about weight classes, cos it doesn't fit in the samurai mindset. You know what else doesn't? Fighting women. Your logic is kind of backwards here.
Not saying that today's Japan is all honour and samurai, but it definitely shows in sports, especially in combat sports.
Hard to say whether Pride would even have had women involved, Japan always seems a bit odd there with women being involved in fightsport/pro wrestling arguably more than most nations but generally kept separate from mens events.
They could of setup one of them grappling matches, I remember Enson Inoue had a grappling match with pacific islander, apparently he was a wrestler but he didn't look good. Enson just owned him, very strange match making...no idea where they found this guy.
Pride done lots of shit in the old days with real random opponents.
