If Poirier actually beats McGregor, where do you rank him as an all time LW..?

Lol, what a dumb way to rank fighters

Level of competition matters more than racking up top 10 wins in a weak division.

Also ignores context of wins, like Khabib destroying guys vs Benson's controversial split decisions.
Yeah I always said that about Benson and why I thought he was a bit overrated. He has the wins, but most of them are boring-ish split decisions. The vast majority of those other guys on that list typically won in exciting, dominant or violent fashion. That definitely counts for something. All of those guys have “wow’d” me at some point. Benson never really did.

Why does a win over Conor McGregor mean something, but when Conor McGregor wins the fight it means nothing?

His shits been called out sherbro. Guy just makes those list for his fan favorites.
<{1-15}>

Hes not ahead of any of these guys:

Khabib - UFC Champion(4 defenses)
Penn - UFC Champion(3 defenses)
Benson - UFC/WEC Champion(3 defenses)
Gomi - Pride/Shooto LW Champion
Alvarez - UFC/Bellator/GP Champion
Pettis - UFC/WEC Champion(1 defense)
Edgar - UFC Champion(1 defense)
Gilbert - SF/WEC Champion(6 defenses)
RDA - UFC Champion(1 defense)
Jens - UFC Champion(1 defense)

He beat 2 guys who you rank above him, so probably something is off in the way look at this.

Maybe top 15, almost top 10

Tapology...are you seriously citing Tapology right now?!

As recently as 2018, Toney was still ranked at Heavyweight, despite having only fought one time in 2010 and having not fought since.
What you might not have realized is that Tapology still has Toney ranked at Heavyweight:

When Tapology keeps fighters ranked after at least 8 years of inactivity, that means their total ranked fighters are going to be hilariously inflated <Lmaoo>.

A reminder of his record..

Wins :
Carlos Diego Ferreira.
Yancy Medeiros.
Joseph Duffy.
Bobby Green.
Jim Miller.
Anthony Pettis.
Justin Gaethje.
Eddie Alvarez.
Max Holloway.
Dan Hooker.

Losses :
Michael Johnson.
Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Upcoming :
Conor McGregor.
If Dustin Beats conor, it says more about Conor than it says about Dustin at this point. Sorry to say. Kinda like How Oliveira beating Tony, more people talked about Tony than oliveira. If conor doesn't wipe this dude out, its a bad loss for conor.

For dustin, I'm sure he'll receive some credit but I don't think beating conor will propel him to superstardom the way it did for nate and Khabib

He'd be the 2nd greatest non-champ at LW, behind Tony, as Tony had a 7-year streak while Poirier was in the same promotion and Tony was universally seen as better.

So:

Khabib
Maybe Penn (though this spot could go to Tony)
Edgar
Gomi
And I think Poirier would be higher than Aoki. Bendo's tough to rank, as he was champ and has a great record, but was unimpressive as champ.

After this there are a bunch of good-to-great fighters as LW has had plenty of them. Like RDA, Pulver, Alvarez, Melendez, Pettis, Kawajiri, Josh Thomson, Nate Diaz, Sherk, Gaethje somewhere here (though Gaethje doesn't have a deep record) and others.

Can we wait until he's held a belt and defended a few times before we start this "all time" talk? Jesus...

You’re really going down bad and continuing to embarrass yourself.
Tapology rankings are legit. I made random screenshots of US LW rankings. Every fighter has fought in 2019-2020.

Really that’s all you got? You’re a sad little man.
I just proved to you that there is at least 1160 pro LWs in US alone. You can’t deny that.
For a long part of Gomi’s career there was less than 100 pro LW’s in the whole world. The level of competition back then was incomparably weaker than it is today, so Gomi’s wins are mostly irrelevant. That’s a fact

I'd have poirier at top 6/7. A win over unranked conner won't add that much

BJ, Gomi, Gil, Alvarez, Benson, Frankie, Khabib are all ahead.

He would be in the next batch with Pettis, RDA, Tony, Jens Pulver, and - ya I'll say it - Joachim Hansen. Maybe Yves and Josh Thomson and Aoki as well.

Where exactly you put him in that second group is highly debatable. So, 8 thru 15.
