Then why can UFC fighters (in general) keep attempting TDs, get TDs and Lay-N-Pray for the entire fight, but most of them can't keep striking efficiently for more than 2 rounds (relatively speaking)?
After a few wild bombs, both Stipe and Francis were too gassed to strike effectively, but Stipe was still more efficient in his grappling. He couldn't strike efficiently with a bigger guy for more than 2 rounds, but he was able to efficiently grapple him for 5 rounds.
The observational tape evidence doesn't seem to support the popular idea that grappling is more demanding than striking.
Even in UFC fights were the grappling cancels itself out (e.g. Racist Snitch vs Demian Maia) both fighters were too gassed to strike effectively by the end of Round 1.
You would think striking endurance would be a piece of cake for these mythical grappling cardio machines. LOL
