Meh, in fights since I have long arms for someone that is 5'9" ....I put the hand out to keep/measure distance. Can't help it if their head movement puts them on the end of my fingers. Some of Jon's have looked intentional, but we don't know for sure. Shit happens. Modified gloves would probably prevent this.

I was thinking the way Jones uses his fingers extended like that, maybe if someone punches his hand it would hurt it. I never trained with gloves so I don't know.

Jones uses more than merely one finger to poke an eye, usually it's the classic index finger poke but sometimes he will utilize the sneaky pinky finger eyepoke like he did against Glover. Jones is a true eyepoke master and will easily adjust his multi-faceted poking game if Cormier can break his index finger.
