The best shots Volkan could throw during the Cormier fight landed, could he hit harder in training? Yes. Cormier took the best shots Volkan had on offer that night and walked through them.
 
Kind of hoping DC wins tbh, but I really like Stipe too lol

Ok, that does not say much, though. Had Volkan only landed one weak jab Cormier would have even then "eaten his best shots" by your definition, because thats the best Volkan would have landed on that night. So you are not really saying anything.

Volkan landed some shots and DC said after the fight Volkan hits hard, that is factual and all we can know.
 
I like both guys, I'm favoring Stipe. When the fight happens it will be nearly 5 years since Cormier fought at HW and he will be 39 years old.
 
Well he didn’t dominate Gustafsson but I’d say he would be top 5 ATG

His wins anywhere close top10 would still be Stipe, Rumble, and Gus right? How does that even compare to current top5 ATG fighters with shit ton of title defenses?

The height and reach differential is substancial... DC is 5'11 and Stipe is 6'4.

Stipe also has a wrestling background so its not gonna be easy for Cormier to ragdoll him like he does with everyone at LHW.

I say Stipe wins it. And starts the debate of him being the best HW of all times.
 
Cormier is at least top 15 of all time, from any weight class, right now. If he got past Miocic there would be a valid case for him being one of the top 5 best ever. His only loss is someone often considered the single best MMA fighter ever and that guy felt the need to blatantly cheat to get past him a second time. A win over Miocic would make it awfully hard to argue he's not one of the 10 best ever at least.

It's still hard to argue dc's short title reigns vs gsp or Fedor dominance. But he'd be in the conversation.
 
He'd be one of the top HWs of all time. Right behind Takayama.
