If Conor beats Floyd in a boxing match, does he become the GOAT of combat sports?

That's just ridiculous. If you're caught in a submission with no ability to escape, tap and save yourself from injury.

Is it not a bitch move to talk shit about people panic wrestling then you go an do it yourself? Plus what makes it worse it that he didn't even try to defend it, he just accepted defeat.

People remember that Conor was choked out just 3 fights ago, right?

Nah. It's the fight game. It's logical to shoot or clinch when you're hurt. Only he knows how hurt he was or how his ability to get out of the choke was.

He gotta beat Geduev/Burroughs/Yazdani or Ramonov/Chamizo/Asgarov lol.

Rocky fought bums for that record. His best win is joe Louis who was old as hell. Job Louis would've murked rocky if he was younger when they fought.
I think of Comin to America barber shop scene.

It would be an incredible achievement to go along with being UFC's first ever 2 division champ. I think it is a fair question.

Nope.
Floyd is 12 years out of his prime. Floyd is retired....if he was in his prime....not sure but you may have an argument.

This whole conversation is a silly pipe dream. All these ifs. He has no Fucking chance.

no

Rocky Marciano retired undefeated. Joe Louis had almost 70 wins in his career. Even in MMA there are many fighters with a lot of great fights and relevant wins through a bigger timespan. Fedor, Silva, GSP, Aldo, Dan Henderson, Big Nog, Werdum... speaking of Werdum, the guy is a multi BJJ champion and was HW champion. He also beat Fedor.

Conor crushed Aldo and that was historic. other than that, he didn't do and won't do much to ever be considered something so insane as greatest of all time in all combat sports. There are many fighters everywhere who have more respect for their craft than Conor. He is a creature of his time, of money over honor and social media bullshit. He barely beat Nate Diaz and lost to him too. But he is gonna fight Floyd, so people forget about it. Maybe he throws a punch that connects and Floys gets knocked out, but so what. One fight doesn't make anyone the greatest ever. It's really shortsighted to think that.
Good post.

Also Louis >>> Marciano

Conor is already the GOAT of combat sports.

If he beats Floyd he will become the GOAT of the human species.

You are absolutely right. Conor does not beat a top 50 boxer. But do not make it seem as if Mayweather is some bum. He is an easy top 10 in boxing history and has probably the best defence ever. Even at 40 years old, he would still hold the belt right now.
he isnt top 10 in history. he doesnt have the best defense ever. not even close. thats where ignorant mma fans recite what they heard someone in a suit on tv say.
and i agree that mayweather is still a very good boxer but TS asked if a win over current mayweather makes mcgregor the GOAT. no. not even if he beat prime mayweather.

I don't see the fight happening one day it's WME negotiating it the next day it's Dana. I think the whole thing is a ruse to keep UFC in the news.

if it does happen and by some divine intervention Conor ko's Floyd many people will be screaming worked fight.

Wrong. He'd beat the greatest, he'd be the greatest.

He will become "The Forest Griffin" of combat sports..

No offense to Forest.

No. If he beat Mayweather it would be insane but in context Conor is in his physical prime and Floyd is old and about 20 lbs lighter than him. If Conor goes and beats Canelo or GGG afterwards then we can have this conversation.

Even in MMA he hasn't dominated a single division. Just won 2 high profile fights for titles. He's sold this image of dominance just by telling everyone he's dominant.

If Conor actually won. The internet would implode and Sherdog and other MMA sites would be shutdown for days.

It would be glorious, McNuggets would be free world wide at all participating McDonalds.
