Iaquinta performance against Khabib the most overrated ever?

Yes
And the "he did better than Conor" or "he did better than Doostin" is bullshit
Al was in a defensive shell the whole fight and took no risks

Way too much gas for that trash performance

actually he did better than mctap or poirier.
you might not like it but it is a fact. deal with it.
(denial is not a sustainable way to deal with things, btw)

Agreed. It's like saying Rashad gave us the blueprint to beat Jones.

In what way did he do better? Conor at least dominated Khabib for a short period while Poirier might have won had he played his guillotine hand correctly and transitioned into an Anaconda. What did Iaquinta do to trouble Khabib?

Idiots claim he couldn't put Al away when the reality is that Khabib just wanted to enjoy these 5 rounds and show that he can easily go 5 rounds.

Probably one of the most stupid statements regarding this fight and proof that most of the MMA fanbase are noobs that have no clue what they are watching.
Thread is full of Conor fans coping with the fact that Iaquinta did much better than Conor.

If Khabib could've finished Al, he would've. lmfaooo at thinking otherwise.
Khabib going 5 rounds with Al on purpose might be some of the most stupid shit I've heard on here, for real. Khabib talks a lot about brain damage and the damage that fighting causes, that's why he hates to get hit and is one of the least hit fighters in the UFC and will probably retire after 2 or 3 more fights. So him risking getting hit or losing a fight just to show off goes pretty much against everything he is.
Also you're disregarding comments made by Khabib himself that Iaquinta was tough as nails and that Iaquinta lured him into a stand-up bout and made Khabib forget about his wrestling for a round or two.

Lured him into a stand-up bout by volunteering his face to be Khabib's punching bag...... why would Khabib need to wrestle when he can win easily by spamming jabs?

I never liked the risk averse nature of it. He was focused on surviving but had no intention of taking any risks e.g. didn't commit to any combinations, just trying to do the bare minimum to keep Khabib away.
I think its more admirable to risk get embarrassed and finished early by taking risks but increasing your chances of winning from 0% to maybe 20%

People are just desperate to find holes in Khabibs performance, that's all. Khabib was never in trouble versus Iaquinta and treated it like a showmatch.

This. And I'll add it was in large part Conor nuthuggers desperately trying to find reassurance that Khabib wouldn't murder their hero.

And no doubt Khabib kicked Al's ass, but I still gained a ton of respect for Al to fight Khabib, the guy that no one wants to fight against, on less than two days notice. Al may be crazy but he has huge balls.

He was giving himself a chance to win. If he is fighting Khabib in the stand up then he has a chance to catch him in an exchange. He knew damn well that he could not win the fight on the ground.

He was getting his ass kicked. He could have easily went to the ground, gave up the sub and tapped and went to the back to collect his check. Staying in there to fight Khabib was most definitely not the "easy way out". Saying that Al did not show heart and toughness in that fight is utterly ridiculous. There is no quit in that guy.

He literally landed less strikes in the entire fight than Conor did in a single round.

It was a terrible showing by Al, but continue to praise it if it makes you feel better for some reason.

He took his ass-kicking like a man, but I saw no blueprint come out of that fight.

Agree.

Khabib’s performance against Iaquinta is kinda like DC vs Anderson.

Joe Rogan is a terrible commentator, he thought the fight was close when there were 3 10-8 rounds and in the two 10-9 rounds Khabib easily outstruck Al while Rogan said his striking was amateurish. Rogan sometimes loses touch with reality and tries to force narratives rather than just calling a fight as it is.

Al trained to fight a kick boxer for 3 rounds.

Instead, he fought the best MMA adapter wrestler in the world for 5, on one days notice.

People are smart enough to put his performance in context. You saw how Conor and Dustin had entire months-long camps to prepare for a 5 round fight specifically against Khabib, and got put away?

Thanks for playing, lets all move on.

The Iaquinta fight was always an anomaly. Khabibs first title fight, the bus incident, the constant changing of opponents, the lack of any preparation for Al’s tendencies. It’s silly to think all that will have no effect on Khabibs ability to maul the way he usually does. It was clear to me that Khabib decided to just outpoint Iaquinta and GTFO of New York once he saw Al wasn’t any kind of striking threat.

He prepared for a striker so it's amazing how shitty his striking looked.

Felder would've won that night.
