I truly feel that Masvidal-Conor is the biggest "missed opportunity" fight in UFC history

Definitely wouldn't have sold more than Khabib/Conor, but would have sold a lot. Timing was a bit sketchy though, since Masvidal got a title shot during covid, then the first card with a full crowd after covid was Masvidal's 2nd title shot where he got his jaw knocked into the 6th row, and Conor had already been KO'd by Poirier at that point.

I suppose the "missed opportunity" would have been not giving Masvidal Conor instead of a 2nd title shot, but then you'd have a non title fight main event(Conor was too expensive at that point to not be main event and he wouldn't have taken it anyway) with 2 guys coming off losses, and he pretty much got to pick any opponent he wanted and wanted to avenge the loss to Doostin.

Conor vs Khabib 2

Jones vs. Silva

Cain Velasquez vs. Fedor Emelianenko

Conor never wanted that fight. He'd much rather fight Nate, who Masvidal brutalised.

Masvidal was riding high off the Askren KO and win over Diaz. He was getting interviewed on ESPN daily for like months. Conor was fresh off his "he's back" tko of Cowboy. Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal would've likely broken every PPV buy record. Obv they didn't wanna do it because they didn't like the idea of Conor fighting in a covid-empty venue...but it would've without a doubt sold the most PPVs in UFC history. I always felt like that fight should've taken place as the first UFC fight with a full crowd post-covid. Would've been insane. Talk about a missed opportunity.
Stop it, they're both irrelavant and semi retired.
If you must do it, keep it on one of those influencer boxing circuses and out of the ufc.

It was fight to make after that BMF fight. Should have been Mas vs Conor in Jacksonville headlining

I know folks will try to clown this, but it would’ve been a massive fight and I think Masvidal would’ve beaten McGregor at that point in their careers.
People asked Dana about it at the time when Masvidal was at his best, and he thought that Mas would destroy Conor and it wasnt gonna be a competitive fight at that time.

It would have done well of course but no it wouldn't have outsold 229

Would have been the 2nd highest selling card ever though

Yeah there's no way you can outsell UFC 229 unless its something new and unforseeable.

Things have to come together in a way you cant plan. I'm sure it will one day though.

At that time it would've been huge. Mas was believed to be a real thing and Conor was believed to still be at peak level. Both would've cut some great promos. Conor likely would've won fairly easy. and I would've been disgusted by that. Looking back I don't think we missed a thing worth seeing.

In 2019? I dont know if that's true that Conor would have won easy.

Conor didn’t want that smoke

Mas was throttling mofos at WW and he would have put him away

it was a good time for Masvidal, but Conor was done after Alvarez. it could've been a missed opportunity had Masvidal's viral KO of Askren happened in 2016-17 instead 2019.

Conor looked amazing vs Alvarez

Probably? Of course he could take me..Im not a pro fighter. And what kind of arguement is this? Are you retarded?

Your response displays a keen insight into the warrior spirit. You must be gifted with great vision and possess keen knowledge of all things.

Dana shut that idea down pretty quickly. He said Conor was too small.
