I think we're all just flabbergasted with Shavkat's performance now

You should send an email to the UFC stat keepers then.

Yea I should, and I’ll tell them they need to be more accurate cause they are constantly getting numbers wrong. They get them wrong for almost every fight. This is a well known thing that gets talked about a lot

Yeah, crazy that he "very extremely clearly" landed a bunch of devastating gnp, and they didn't count a single ground strike, not a single judge officially or in any of the media scoring agree with you that Garry won round 4.

When did I say devastating ground and pound? I said he clearly landed strikes on the ground because he did, and if you’re so smoothbrained that you’re denying that fact then there’s no point arguing with you. Don’t hit a man in a wheelchair, don’t argue with a guy with brain damage etc

Indeed, thanks for the advice. Pretty pointless arguing with the only person on earth who thinks they should have given Garry round 4 because flailing his arms from the bottom should be counted as significant strikes. <lol>

well, the fight against Wonderboy was kinda wall and stall too, so I'm not surprise

unfortunately, Garry is not Pantoja or Do Bronx to get the finish after get the back and lock in

I hope we see Colby vs Ian now

He was supposed to fight for the title.

I don't blame him.
I was thinking that too. Maybe he needed the money really bad or something.
Either that or he's ballsy and confident as hell because you're really taking an unnecessary risk by fighting anyone after Belal dropped out.

Gotta hold off until I see shav vs belal on the judgments and remember these are top 5 guys fighting each other .. and yeah kham has a nice take down but I wasnt impressed with his finish of Robert at all..

More a freak happening if circumstance imo.

I can't do the comparisons because in my mind Gary is still untested and same for shav until we see them vs a big name top 5 and shav smoked wonderbiy and got him down

He's a B level fighter.

It's going to take everything he has to beat Belal.

Odds are going to favor Belal too IMO. Belal is made to beat guys that make mistakes.

Just listened to Cormier's rundown on UFC 310 this morning and he mentioned something about Shavkat possibly having an MCL injury going into this fight.

He said he was injured during the wb fight too, his takedowns have always been shit it’s just excuses at this point

I know people don't like Gary but he's not an easy opponent to look good against because he's very light on his feet and very good at throwing what I call " get away from me strikes ".

Belal is a completely different opponent and I'm not saying he'll be easy but Shavkat won't have to worry about finding Belal. Belal is going to be right infront of Shavkat
I watched it again and honestly I think shavkat did great.. it's hard to finish a guy who isn't fighting back or pressing as Ian was defensive the whole fight just waiting for mistakes or counters ..

I think the pace belal has when he fights shav itle change a lot of minds and opinions. Can't wait to bet on that fight

I don't know if it's just the fickle mma fan in me now, or if I just need to give Garry credit, but damn that was an extremely underwhelming and rough performance by Rakhmanov.

I know Ian poses some problems on the feet with his movement, length and quickness, so it's understandable that output was lower than usual. Butttttttt... the grappling is the concern. Shavkat landed like 1 out of 8 TDs or some shit and got his back took too.

Dawg, if Ian Garry is taking your back and squeezing a RNC, imagine the success Belal will have once that ass is on the mat.

I'm shocked.

Man I just think Ian Garry is very good, that was an elite level MMA fight that one

Garry is way better than people give him credit for (on account of his douchebag personality). That said, Shavkat looked off to me. He alluded to issues in camp and I buy it. His conditioning was not there.

When has shavkat ever shown great conditioning? This was his first five rounder

Yeah shavkat vs khamzat debate should be over too, shavkat is significantly less impressive
Or Ian is actually just that good,? They were training partners. They knew what each had for arsenal ..

Thebfact that fans toss him a side now, even though he his still undefeated. Is baffling

I agree.

I think Belal give him the Demian Maia backpack treatment.

conditioning wasn't there? huh? It's his first time going 5 rounds, maybe the hugging wore him out a bit

Ian is just a lot better than most thought he was, kid was also undefeated and really proved to be far better on the ground that anyone gave him credit for. Shavkat looked ok, but definitely did not press the action enough, I mean he did but he was super tenative.

Keep in mind these guys trained together and likely knew each other far better than any of their previous opponents.

I will say though, I am kinda favouring Belal when they fight after last night.

People need to go back and re watch that fight and clue in to how solid Garry's grappling defense is.

Worse thing you can say about either is that both fought to not lose instead of fought to win. But a lot was on the line.
