I think Strickland can beat Khamzat

It all depends on his takedown defense.

Sticktland would never last that first round like usmam. If khamzat ragdolls usman that bad he would maul strictland.

I tend to agree although Strickland does have good wrestling so if he can do enough to survive round one, he probably pieces Khamzat up. But I do agree it would be a really tough round.

LMAO. Outpointing Adesanya does not max all of your stats. You don't just magically become immune to subs and takedowns. Chimaev's physicality, pressure, and relentless wrestling will be too much for Strickland. Sean may be physically taller than Burns and Usman but he is definitely not stronger than them. Especially Usman. How many people will fight like Adesanya on the backfoot for the entire fight? When have you ever seen Khamzat pressured like that? I feel like the Adesanya win has fooled a lot of people on what Strickland is capable of here. Go watch the Cannonier fight again. He has a decent jab but he ain't KOing people like Wiedman, Hendo, etc. Also, that upright Philly shell is just begging to be exploited by a high-level wrestler. If Chimaev was able to take fucking Usman down 4 times do you honestly believe Strickland is going to stuff all of those takedowns??? I'm putting a sizeable bet on Chimaev.

Why is Khamzat even being discussed against Strickland.

He beat ZERO middleweights.

Unimpressive after round 1 with full camp.

Sour Izzy fanboy spotted!

Sean is cold as ice if he pulls that off

Can’t wait to see it, helluva first defense!

I have this AV because of a bet but ok. Strickland won the title of being the next best point fighter at MW. Congrats to him. But I'm not going to change my perspective of him just because he beat Adesanya who is stylistically night and day compared to Khamzat.

Khamzat struggled against a bloated WW with no knees on 2 weeks notice

Strickland beats him easily
Khamzat has actually regressed since the Burns fight

absolutely clowned Usman before breaking his hand. Khamzat has spanked Strickland in training, he has admitted this. Sean isn’t surviving that first round the way Usman did. He simply doesn’t have the grappling chops.

I don't think Strickland can survive the first round

He already said in an interview that Khamzat ragdolled him at the gym

That's why Dana wants this fight to happen ASAP. Strickland is a publicity nightmare.

cause he’s getting the next title shot and he broke his hand in round 1. He absolutely mauled the fuck out of Usman in round 1, something we’ve never seen.

Strickland is a DANGEROUS matchup. He's going to have no fear of Khamz striking and try to walk him down same as he did Israel. Plus he has roughly 840% more cardio. If DeSean survives being taken down in the first round and a half, he wins 9/10 times

sean has been subbed by Khamzat in training where they’re known to go damn near 100%. Sean isn’t Usman in grappling. It ends in round 1 via strangle.

Bro his output and paced dropped ten fold come the 2nd round. He threw barely anything and only tried takedown attemps to do nothing with them. Literally laid on Usman and did nothing for the last 2 mins of round 3.

Strickland just has to weather the storm early and get it past the 2nd round. Then crank up the pressure once Khamzat fades.

He has the tools and cardio to beat him imo. Very interesting how that fight will play out.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I feel it will be framed as a slam dunk for Khamzat in all the pre-fight predictions but Strickland has some advantages that could pay dividends as long as he can survive the earlygoing of the fight. The problem is that this might be a tall order. I tend to think of Strickland as having quite good takedown defense and defensive grappling but Khamzat is a different animal in the grappling than many of his opponents.

If he takes Sean down, I don’t see Sean getting back up.

But if Strickland can endure and start stifling takedowns deeper in the fight, he can pull it off.

They have trained together before and Strickland is not afraid of him. Which suggests he knows he can deal with him.

Anyway I think Strickland beats him easy. Yes he may give up a few takedown but he has the smarts to survive. I feel there will be enough stand up exchanges where Strickland will piece him up and get the better of him.

Plus Strickland showed he can go 5 rounds. Every tough fight Khamzat been in he slowed down.
