Tech I think I'm shadow banned on Youtube

I have the only PC in the household. I'm not going to dl YT on my TV and the app on my phone only allows 1080 as a max resolution.
The one video I watched on my phone in response to your question seemed to play fine.
You said it downgraded your PC to 480p quality, so I assumed signing in on a single other device, like your phone, would be an easy way to confirm whether or not the issues were exclusive to the PC, or were device-wide so long as you are signed into your Google account.

If your account plays fine on the phone at 1080p, it once again makes it sound like it's an issue with your PC, and not the account.

Hear me out.
The phone is using the YT app and thus forcing ads where in I'm strictly in the Google ecosphere.
The PC Im using is just logging into the website and with my account enabled the vids are absolutely downgraded.
It seems to me these are two completely different experience's

Jesus Christ dude I said it was cable, its not fiber, its not any type of next gen connection. I have better than average bandwidth.
Why are you so baked on explaining away my issue using the ISP as the problem?

Enjoy your minimum resolution YouTube videos.

Virus?

I think this issue would be a little more widespread if Youtube was doing this for some manipulative reason.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Mistake #1 is letting them win. Adblock isn't good enough anymore, you have to use uBlock. Works fine, no ads and you won't get the "OMG you're using adblock" popups anymore.

YT seems to throttle the connection sometimes, it seems only on certain videos. I'm not sure what the criteria for triggering it is. I think they want you to pay for premium. I've used Jdownloader to get around it, download the video that's being throttled. Lately the throttling stopped completely. Maybe if you don't cave in they just give up and let you watch normally again, or maybe it'll come back at some point. It doesn't really matter because like I said there's always a workaround.

Google isn't throttling your resolution because of adblocking. Has nothing to do with adblocking. Because millions out there are blocking ads, including on third-party apps on their phones that allow them to sign into their accounts, and they aren't experiencing this issue.

You're suffering an ID-10-T error.

You're definitely not shadow-banned, though I'm not entirely credulous you believe that, and instead have formed a more creative angle to fish for tech help.

They care about adblockers, but their tactic isn't at all to go after individual users. Instead, they do shit like they did with the Manifest V3 changes that crippled the most robust adblocking extensions out of the box on Chrome (i.e. uBlock Origin). Because if they were blocking you, Incognito would do nothing.

The fact it's working in Incognito but not Normal mode suggests one of your extensions is breaking how the site works. Try disabling every extension in Normal mode to verify if this is the case. If that doesn't solve it try purging caches, but it will more likely be cookies, since Incognito also dispenses with those. To save yourself the hassle of signing back into every website online, you could try deleting Cookies for YouTube individually. You can Google how to do that depending on your browser.
do you believe they shadow ban i.e you still use their services but aren't viewed by anyone real?

YT/Google doesn't fuck with all the people all the time. It rolls out measures to various user groups to experiment with strategies that combat skirting around their anti AdBlock TOS.
Of course millions of people aren't affected. They are fucking with other millions of people before the tactics are switched up to create another pool of users to glean data from before the next update.
I thought I gave a pretty good explanation of my device that only accesses YT via browser not being able to stream in HD while signed in to my account, but still can access and stream HD when in incognito/private modes. I explained that I erased all cookies and uninstalled and reinstalled the browsers, logged in and uninstalled cookies again and the result was the same.
I explained that on my phone where when watching YT was restricted to using their ap and capped at 1080p and the service seemed fine, but I dont think watching a video on various browsers on PC is apples to apples as using the official ap on my phone.
I know you know much more than me about computers, and you reading the posts of a perceived luddite must seem arduous.
This thread was made in good faith with the intention of seeing if other people on this pretty obscure forum were having issues similar to mine.

Edit: Making me out as some sort of CT guy is a low blow.

And on and on it goes. Twitch says hold my beer.

If you can't figure it out maybe you should pay for YouTube Premium.

OK dick, yeah no shit.
What's the point of even responding to any single part of this thread? Was it so you could point out, and point a finger at when @Your Salad cant figure something out he must be a dumbass?
Why jump in and dump on me?
Seems punitive an unnecessary.

Edit: Looked up ID-10....
You are a massive prick and I would still buy you a beer, you fuck ass.

Don't put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby.

You presented your whole thread disingenuously, did you not? You made it sound like you were worried about a "shadow ban" specifically targeting your Google account when in fact you were just fishing for adblocking help. You wasted my time.

I still think its "shadow ban".
WTF is the disingenuously part?

I still think my account is targeted and still screw you.
I just looked up that mumbo jumbo "ID...." shit an realized you used a term without any context that seemed cheeky that most people wouldn't understand and when I did copypaste it I realized you were insulting me.
I thought it was in jest, but it turns out... No you are simply being an asshole.
For what reason???

Its how he's always talked to people here on this subforum. Oddity is that this is reciprocal to the point of theatrics.

An asshole for sure, but a knowledgeable one.
He doesn't get any flowers from me.
If I troll the sub(in the fishing sense)forum I'm sure to get replies that could potentially aid or help me.
Like I said, the thread was created in good faith.

Yea I had issues using Chrome because it was constantly buffering on me. Started using firefox and haven't had issues since. It's been about 6 months.

This all happened overnight a week ago.
My internet connection is perfectly fine and I have zero problems streaming HD content via Roku on my devices, or downloading games from Steam or Epic.
I think YT is punitively throttling my connection because I have used adblockers. I still get throttled when the YT is green listed on said adblocker while signed in.
When I watch vids signed to my account I'm stuck with buffering issues and end up having to deal with 480p quality.
I can copypaste the same URL to a incognito/private tab and watch it in its 1440p glory.
Its the same result in multiple browsers Chrome, Brave, Firefox. As soon as my account is recognized by Google it makes sure I cant watch any vids in HD
Anyone here ever dealt with this?
Ask them if they misread your name as Toss my Salad? If not, just apologise and walk away.
