I need a new gi, help me please.

I hear good things about Atama gis. Almost everybody I know with an Atama gi loves it.

does the color of your gi or the patches mean anything? like white, blue, black Gi's.. is it prefrence?

and the patches, i see they give patches for tournaments but what about the flags and etc? can you just put them on if you like them or do they mean anything?

i'm about to order a black bjj gi gold weave because i see white and blue a lot and being different would help my people pick me out of a bjj tourney if they were in the stands.

note: i still dislike gi's and that i have to train with them. hey, how about i bring some rope on the mat and choke someone with it. but, when in rome... :/

No, you're not a moron! It wasn't allowed to compete with black gi's some time ago but now it is. The brazilian associations CBJJ and CBJJO changed their rules. Now you can use black gi's as long as you use the same color on the jackets and pants. I'm not sure about other associations around the world...

I respect your oppinion but I must say that I've been training for more than 10 years and I have used single weave, gold weave and double weave gi's from different brands. I NEVER had any problems with single weave gi's and they all lasted the same as the Gold ones.

Anyway, good luck with the gold weave, it's also a great gi and I'm sure you'll like it.

Single weaves are fine, broham. I sometimes prefer a single weave because it's more snug and is lighter for those hot ass days. And they are durable.. atama doesn't make cheap gi's.. whether they be single or gold.

I agree. Single weaves have been around forever and are just fine, as are gis with seams in the back. It's all in the marketing. One company makes you belive that a gold weave one piece is the way to go then all of a sudden the two piece single weave gis that we have all been using is thought of as junk. Give me a HCK, Atama, Gameness, Mkimono, Mizuno or any other of the time tested gis any day.
