I like Stipe, but i think Ngannou will finish him this time....

If he does lose it will be because time eventually caught up with him, he's certainly the most skilled fighter between the two. #HWGOAT

I've come to learn not to doubt Stipe anymore. He's doesn't fight fancy, have explosive highlight knockouts or is a chiseled specimen, but he's like a Toyota Camry, reliable, and it just works. In the fight game it's more like a road trip than a quarter mile race
very good analogy.

Francis hasn’t looked any better since he fought stipe, he looks the exact same.

See people like you say stipe has looked slower or worse, but don’t take into account that he was fighting far and away better competition in Daniel than francis or anybody francis fought for that matter. So if stipe was fighting far better competition and did progressively better over those three fights, doesn’t that mean stipe was improving? Where francis looks like the exact same guy?

Think harder, francis does absolutely nothing better than stipe.
Francis doesn't need to be better than you at MMA, all he has to do is touch you and your going down.

I never argued he's a better martial artist than Stipe, but you need a specific set of skills to survive against Ngannou and I don't think Stipe has the goods anymore. DC was clearly past it during their fight, still good enough to go tit for tat with Stipe but cmon he was all out obese in there. We don't know how obese DC would stack up against the HW's that Francis destroyed, for all we know Bladyes would outpace and outstrike current DC.

What we do know is that even out of shape dead tired Ngannou took everything Stipe had for 5 rounds and lived to tell the tale, even unprepared cocky Ngannou hit Stipe with some brutal fight enders that Stipe somehow managed to survive.

I don't think Stipe survives this time, the body can only take so many of these.....I really hope Stipe calls it quits tbh, he's had a great career.

This is my opinion and I'd be more than happy to put my AV on the line :D

Eh My stance on av bets is that I don’t care enough about controlling your avatar to risk control of my own. I’ll bet real cash as usual, though

By the way, this is like betting on Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury II and taking Wilder

I love my Toyota Camry. I now have newfound respect and admiration for Stipe.

I feel the same. Stipe totally outclassed him the first time but if he takes that fight again it’s not gonna end well for him. Francis is coming around and There’s a lot of talk about what has he done to show that, but come on he’s completely smashed everyone. Stipe has a chance still obviously but he won by a thread I. The first fight, Francis hit him with some bombs and didn’t end him, next time will not be the same.

i think francis improved more than stipe.

i think stipe has a much tougher time in the next go round

I'll be honest, I picked Stipe the first time, but I'm leaning Ngannou right now. He looked pretty bad in DC 3, and he seems to have slown down.

I hope Stipe wins, because I love the guy and Ngannou seems like a prick, but right now I see Ngannou taking his block off in round 1.
Definitely possible but I think Stipe's still got enough to be able avoid the early Ngannou blitz where he's most dangerous and unless Ngannou has fixed his cardio issues Stipe would be a clear cut favourite should the fight reach the championship rounds.

It's possible. With Francis it's always possible. Even if he doesn't get the KO there's the possibility of a doctor's stoppage—if that swelled eye Stipe got in the 1st round had gotten any worse...

But —
1. We can't be certain that Ngannou's made improvements to his game (because he's had little time to show it while he's been knocking out foos just like he did before he met Stipe.)

2. Even if he has made improvements we can't be sure if they are the really needful ones. For example, a lot of people have pointed out how Ngannou was aggressively headhunting Stipe in a most uncharacteristic manner, and that this time he'd surely be more patient and not gas as fast. BUT all the good intentions in the world won't matter if Francis hasn't learned how not to bite on feints. If he hasn't, Stipe can fool him into overswinging just the same way.

3. Knocking Stipe seems to depend a lot on his inattention or an element of surprise. DC KO'd him with a short tight shot exiting a clinch, a punch he couldn't see coming. But Francis isn't exactly a subtle thrower. His looping punches can be much more easily read than DC's faster ones.

BTW I really don't understand why people are saying stipe looked bad in the last DC fight. We already knew DC had the faster hand speed, what exactly were you expecting? And Stipe dominating DC in the clinch—DC's bread and butter!—is actually damn impressive.

Such a good post.

THIS. My fiancee and I's takeaway was that DC and Stipe both looked amazing in their last fight. Stipe outclinched DC of all people! And DC's cardio was so improved compared to their 2nd fight.

Obviously their fight has little to no bearing on how Stipe/Ngannou 2 would go, though.

Toyota Camry vs Ford Escort.

Stipe finishes Francis in their second fight. Francis needs a couple more fights with a tighter stand up from Teddy Atlas to have a chance against Stipe. I do not think he looked bad against DC as everyone thinks. DC is a beast at heavyweight and Jon Jones did not want to fight DC at heavyweight as DC lost a step when he had a weight cut to light heavyweight

Maybe, but last time Stipe cruches Francis and dominated every second and every aspect of the fight ! This time, fight can be comptetitve, and Francis can win one round, but not the fight !
