I'm very proud of you.
I saw a kid get hit by a car years and years ago. Thought the little dude was going to die but I did the best first aid I could until the ambulance showed up. Kid called me every day for like a month to thank me.
That's awesome. I probably would break down when it comes to a situation like that. I feel comfortable in a pool area but something springing up like that would have me frozen in place.I saw a kid get hit by a car years and years ago. most states have a Good Samaritan law that protects people who offer assistance and some even have an obligation to render aid even if you are being paid to do so like lifeguarding (usually the minimum is defined as calling emergency personnel). He signed a consent form actually so I shouldn't have to worry about that luckily.
Luckily I had my mask with me so that wasn't an issue. Kid was vomiting and foamy, I couldn't have done it otherwise honestly.
Gave him half a bottle of Jack?
I'm very proud of you.
Kid was probably in shock. That's probably better than being aware in the moment. This kid had his eyes open and I feel like I saw the fear set in, I was honestly so relieved because it was a good sign. But I really hurt for him, he had been so happy before that and seeing him like that was rough. I just tried to comfort him. I can't imagine waking up like that.Kept him from trying to walk off in shock, considering his leg snapped clean and half. Tried to stop the bleeding from a gaping head wound.
Poor guy just wanted to walk back to school to call his mom.
In a way I'm glad to have the experience for the future, it really is so different than a controlled setting and there's so much more happening. It's amazing that people like you and EMT's deal with stuff like this on such a regular basis. I have so much respect for that, it takes a special kind of person to put themselves in that situation.I did CPR on a dude in his 50's a few weeks back. Felt rib cartilage crack as I did compressions. My partner and I each did a cycle of about 5 mins while fire did their advanced medical thing, pushed drugs and zapped him.
He pulled through.
It's a weird thing to do it for real, training on a dummy is a lot different than doing it on a human.
Years back I did it on a kid who did not make it from a drowning. Carried him to the ambulance and my uniform was soaked in pool water. Shit fucked me up bad since he was like 3 and my kiddo was just about to be born.

You must give some damn good compressions...Im a paramedic but a weird one I had was doing compressions on a naked guy who had jizz coming out of his cock as we were doing compressions. This was in the ER. I asked the doc what the fuck was going on and he had no clue lol.
My guess is he was banging his wife when he went into cardiac arrest and she was too embarrassed to tell us lol
Call, give em your info and let them know the family can call you. A lot of times they want to reach out to you.In a way I'm glad to have the experience for the future, it really is so different than a controlled setting and there's so much more happening. I thought of my nephew who's a little younger, all the kids I've saved before and who I got to know during the job. I thought how this was so different, and I was so desperate to make sure he'd come back. It's killing me not knowing how he's doing, I just want to call the hospitals around here but I doubt that would get me any information.

Damn, that's trippy. The other guard wasn't getting the kid out of the water because his shorts fell off. I was like "Fuck it! Pull him out!". He was going to wait until they could put the shorts on him lmao. Luckily no jizz, I would have really needed gloves for that.Im a paramedic but a weird one I had was doing compressions on a naked guy who had jizz coming out of his cock as we were doing compressions. Thanks, man. I think I'll do that.Call, give em your info and let them know the family can call you. A lot of times they want to reach out to you.
No doubt. Just having the right person there can make all the difference too. I've felt useless so many times in my life and that the world would be better off without me, so something like this is sort of eye opening. It's wild how quickly a life can change that way.
