The only thing that brought Jones back was the fact that Gane had pretty bad wrestling, and the fact that Ngannou left the UFC. Otherwise, Jones would have held out for a $20-30 M payday to fight Ngannou.

Basically, people were very right to be skeptical of him returning, only unforeseen developments proved them wrong.

I was wrong. Lol. But he def cherry picked better than GSP against Bisping. At least Jones plans to defend though.

I noticed the tape during the Gane fight and wasn't surprised to read his foot was still bothering him from the injury during the Sonnen fight. That was a nasty injury.

Even if you’re going to criticize Jones for “cherry picking” Gane, the fact that he was able to do what he did within 2 mins, despite the fact that he never fought at HW and had a 3 year layoff is beyond amazing. NO ONE expected Jones to win that fast and easily.
