I got that high cholesterols

the most evidence-based dietary things to decrease consumption of are sugar-added products and red meat products. the evidence for interventions involving directly altering fat consumption are not as strong as the former, and not as strong as it seems public perception has it.

IMO, the evidence for foods to INCREASE the consumption of are less strong, but generally people in the west with high cholesterol would probably benefit from eating more nuts and replacing some red meat with chicken. in some states ive lived, peanut butter at the grocery store that is just pure blended peanuts + salt with no added sugar or oil have become pretty affordable and is honestly delicious.

as another poster mentioned correctly, total cholesterol is HDL + LDL + VLDL

VLDL is estimated as triglycerides/5.

So Cholesterol_Total = HDL + LDL + TG/5

LDL = 171

if youre over 40, its very unlikely that lifestyle changes alone will alter your numbers enough that a physician wouldnt recommend statins.

if youre under 40 you might be able to avoid a statin recommendation until you reach 40 through lifestyle changes, though its probably a good idea to have a physician calculate your 10 year risk of cardiovascular disease/assess your risk factors. your numbers are in a range where that estimate may push that recommendation even before 40 even if you see a reasonable decrease in values with lifestyle changes.

Just got my lab results back. Looks like I gotta do more cardio and cut back on the greasy food. Gonna try that before going on statins.

Also, is it weird that they didn't include my LDL? Why would they only do HDL?

systolic blood pressure 121 mmHg
diastolic blood pressure 75 mmHg

HDL 54 mg/dL
Cholesterol - 244 mg/dL (high)
Triglycerides - 95 mg/dL

Hgb A1c - 5.6%
Glucose Level - 94 mg/dL
Sorry to hear dude... sucks.

Your blood pressure looks fine, so I assume you're in decent shape.

Cardio sure beats taking drugs for life, I guess.

There's a lot of money involved that it stays around

Yeah I know the answers, it's just disgusting......... I'm really not surprised I've seen the depth some will go to, too rid you of your money and liberty........

hey man, don't worry. Its not just the greasy food only, its inflammation overall, yes greasy food can contribute but even stress, sugar, can cause high cholesterol.
That makes sense because my diet isn't bad but my stress levels have been through the roof.

244-54-(95/5) should be your LDL. Post the paperwork just to make sure the 244 value is your total cholesterol

If all the numbers are accurate then your LDL should be around 170ish? It's high but it's not above 190.
Thank you. I didn't know there was a formula where I could just figure it out.

I have the same body size and type as BJ Penn. So when I was young and in shape I looked like LW motivated BJ.

Currently I look like burrito BJ.

Been losing a little weight slowly though. Went from 208 to 199 in the last year.

But that was just from lifting weights and not being a pig. I did almost no cardio. I know I needed to start doing cardio again just for my heart health, so this cholesterol number is just one more reason to do it. I hate cardio though.

yea should have

Garlic extract capsules/allicin will slash your LDL, bad news is you got to keep taking it. Still better then statin though

I saw an old co-worker for the first time in maybe 10 yrs and she was very fooking fat and I assume it's stress.

I look at Apple News before going to sleep and I must have come across an article that made it sound like pecans are the best nut to lower cholesterol, so I started eating pecans which look and taste like walnuts. Not easy to find a big bag already roasted. Roasted tastes better, so will need to do it myself with bags from Costco or Sam's Club.

I thought garlic lowered blood pressure via nitrous oxide expanding blood vessels. I took Kyolic daily, but it wasn't enough to overcome salty plate lunches.

I eat five eggs a day and still got low cholesterol

One thing you have have to be really careful of is, if you have low cholesterol levels you might avoid getting a heart attack. Before you lower those levels think about it. Don't you want to go out absolutely gloriously with a gigantic heart attack?! I mean, just think about it!

I heard they need to be raw, otherwise the roasting process turns you into a traumatized damaged person with pair bonding issues.........

Oh snap I just remembered that Bornstarch had borderline high cholesterol but he took some red yeast rice supplement to help lower it.

Spending time outside, getting sensible sun exposure is good at lowing cholesterol levels from a few studies I've read. I have low cholesterol levels when ever I have tested and i attribute that to spending some time outdoors each day.
