I don't understand the housing market in Japan

My messy Japanese roommates from the past come to mind. If the house is anything like how their rooms looked, the price makes sense.

There are no jobs in rural areas. You basically need to be an expat working remotely or an influencer getting YT bucks making a renovation series. And even then you're still stuck in the countryside with old people and nothing to do. Italy has the same problem. Lovely little rural villages with 15K houses but there's nobody there. No young people, no hot chicks, no clubs, no activities of any kind, just old people selling veggies in the market or w/e. Could do OK as a vacation home though.

This. I was just in Japan last month. All these cheap homes are in the middle of no where.

Good luck living there if you're not Japanese either unless you're a hermit and don't need social interaction for happiness

Meh same here, got houses people cant get rid of no matter how cheap

Its a result of villages dying, in future everyone will be in cities probably

Apparently not everyone wants to live in the forest shouring "Perkele!" at bears and waving brooms at them, the pussies. Sad times.

My main worries would be having a steady supply of electricity, water, proper plumbing etc. Also what is the build quality, paper walls? Roof falls onto your head when sleeping?

Summer is fine but its winter here most of the time and pitch black darkness, not to mention nature here sucks.Wind river film was very accurate representation lol

Now if i could live in some italian or swiss mountain village then hell yea would never leave

How can you buy a house for the price of a used Toyota Corolla?
Population rapidly shrinking and no-one wants to live outside the big cities.

You could move to Teruel in Spain (lower half of Aragon), they call it forgotten Spain. They need people there. Weather kinda sucks genuinely cold in the winter (though nowhere near Finnish cold though) and blazing hot in the Summer. They have some villages of people they've paid to move there. They're from Morroco, Romania and Argentina for the most part. I've been intending to go for awhile.

It is where I vacation in the winter.

We got 18" of snow yesterday.
Some awesome snow mobile trails up there. My ex gf is from St Ignace. Ive been to the Ironwood area a couple times. Western UP all the way up to munising is beautiful

Those areas are probably abandoned or the owners died. The young people are moving towards the city and the town itself is starting to empty. It is just inconvenient to live there. 10 min by car to train is how many minutes walking?
