I dont get why Belfort isnt fighting for the belt didnt he already earn his shot?

Belfort earned his Titled shot then had to withdrawl due to no fault of his own because they changed the rules and he didnt have enough time to comply. Then Machida stepped in as a replacement and that fight got cancled because Chris got hurt...why the fuck is Machida still fighting Chris then? If Belfort can now fight why isnt he getting his title shot back?

Say what you want about TRT he was cleared to take it. I understand why he was replaced i dont understand why his replacement gets to take his fight since the fight got canceled and belfort is now ready to fight.
 
Because they werent gonna risk him not getting a license to fight. he will appear in Vegas in the middle of June to see if he can fight or not.

UFC wasnt risking promoting a big main event only to lose it cause Vitor couldnt get off TRT in time or couldnt get approved to fight.

Its one thing to lose Vitor in the third fight on the PPV and get a replacement for Sonnen, its another thing to lose Vitor right before a main event on a big July 4th PPV and get a replacement for Weidman on short notice.
 
Ironic he lost out on a title shot for drug testing, gets a #1 contender shot against a guy who failed a drug test, by replacing a guy who ducked a drug test.

This way Belfort doesn't have to have his first TRT'less fight be for the belt.
Definitely safer.
 
Vitor stepped up and decided not to wait around. The balls on this guy, plus Vitor vs. Sonnen has been a highly anticipated fight for at least two years. Win-win for me.
 
Unfortunately, that's the fight game for you. In a system where when fights are booked and fan reactions come into play, this is what you get. In the stick-and-ball sports, you don't get this sort of problem. Your record that season determines whether or not you get into the play-offs. If you keep winning in the post-season, you advance. Say what you will about Bellator's tournaments (they really jam up things at the top), but no one can deny that the winner of those tournaments doesn't deserve their shot at the belt.
 
Don't sweat it, Machida is a better match up for Vitor anyway. If neither gets injured they could fight for the belt at UFC 179 in Rio in October.

Vitor gave up his shot when he pulled out of the fight because he needed to adjust to being off TRT. Joe Silva and Dana were nice enough to tell him he could have the winner of Machida vs Weidman. Vitor is doing them a solid now by filling in for Wanderlei against Sonnen, who Vitor is a strong match up against. Vitor knows he fucked up by having to pull out of the origina titlefight, and is now taking this Number 1 contenders fight to make sure he gets back in the UFC's good graces.

Vitors probably getting a big payday here and doing the ufc a favor after he had to drop out. Im sure he realizes that if he cant get passed chael that weidman would push his shit in

Also if chael wins he gets another title shot which is what the ufc wants. Chaels mouth is big $$$
 
Cause he pulled out. They gave his shot to someone else. He doesn't get the right to just replace the guy who replaced him because he was originally there first. There's no reason to remove Machida.

This is NOT a #1 contender fight. This fight is at 205 and has ZERO bearing on the MW division.

Vitor already has his shot lined up. If Sonnen somehow wins this fight at 205 he is still no closer to a MW title shot. (He would need to win several at MW first)
