I dont get why Belfort isnt fighting for the belt didnt he already earn his shot?

Vitor gave up his shot when he pulled out of the fight because he needed to adjust to being off TRT. Joe Silva and Dana were nice enough to tell him he could have the winner of Machida vs Weidman. Vitor is doing them a solid now by filling in for Wanderlei against Sonnen, who Vitor is a strong match up against. Vitor knows he fucked up by having to pull out of the origina titlefight, and is now taking this Number 1 contenders fight to make sure he gets back in the UFC's good graces.

he didnt "give up his shot" they changed the fucking rules. They wornt being nice by telling him he could have the winner he earned the freaking shot! giving someone something you said he earned is not being nice.

It's a questionable story though isn't it? You can't fight because your training changes due to drug regulations.

Cause he pulled out. They gave his shot to someone else. He doesn't get the right to just replace the guy who replaced him because he was originally there first. There's no reason to remove Machida.

Like I said he earned the shot then due to no fault of his own he couldnt make the fight in the time frame for which it was scheduled.

the whole "He doesn't get the right to just replace the guy who replaced him because he was originally there first" is illogical. The only reason he was replaced was because he couldnt fight now he can so there is no reason for him to be replaced because they dont need a replacement anymore chris got hurt.

There is not enough TrT on earth for him to beat Weidman is why. I say let him juice as much as he can , i like the "new" Vitor , his fights are more entertaining .

Ironic he lost out on a title shot for drug testing, gets a #1 contender shot against a guy who failed a drug test, by replacing a guy who ducked a drug test.

Welcome to the UFC

bla bla bla

These things happen in MMA.

The vitor chael fight should be at 185 that way if someone in the main gets hurt vitor can step up. And chael can fight patrick cummings or some jive

TS - the real issue is that you don't "get" the UFC.

This organization sets up all fights - including title fights - however and whenever it wants, whether or not they make sense to us.

This is the way it's been for a while and will most likely remain this way forever.

And now, since you were put on notice of this fact, you may never post about this issue for as long as you remain on Sherdog. :)

so in other words you have nothing to offer to the discussion. next time just skip over the thread when you feel that way.

Who cares? Machida vs. Weidman is a much more interesting matchup anyway.

It does seem like he would get the title shot. Plus I'd bet Vitor would be a much bigger draw than Machida so it doesn't make sense he didn't get his title shot back.

Your reading comprehension is severely misplaced, sir - I literally handed you the exact answer you were looking for.

Pearls before swine, as they say ...

UFC had no idea what Nevada was going to do with Vitor and they still don't. They didn't want to risk having the main event for their most important show of the year pulled.

The only reason they are advertising Vitor/Sonnen is Vitor passed his random drug test Nevada gave him and has now applied for his license. He still has to go to a hearing and discuss his past failure and the TRT situation. He'll likely get a conditional license and be subject to a bunch of random tests.

Having to pull out of the fight for a not so legit medical reason, is giving up your shot. Evans gave up his shot against shogun due to a legit medical reason. He is lucky he was given the shot back and not forced to take another fight. Now, taking this fight on his own volition, helping to save a a fight and keep a card stacked after Wanderlei fucked up, Gets him into very good graces again with the UFC, not only when it comes to fights he wants, but when its time to re-up his contract. Vitor learning how to play the game.
