ank seemed shock right away when alex started with the pressure. I guess he wasn't expecting that or was ready for it. If he could have survived the first half of the round, by this I mean not get hit by the right hook, maybe he would have found his composure.

But look at anks eyes the whole minute of the fight. he was a deer caught in the headlights as soon as the fight started. izzy caught it too.

Yeah, we've seen fights where the other guy gets the ref to let it go, like after Izzy got caught by Strickland, Izzy just shut down and was pure defense mode afterwards. Not saying Ankalaev would've been the same, but it's very rare for fighters to turn everything around. Someone like Frankie Edgar is known for his heart could do it.

Either way, I'm glad to not spend anything longer than a year on 2 fights of Alex/Ank. Happy that the division moves on.

Maybe Ank wasn't 100%, but Alex wasn't 100% in the first fight either. Even if we accept both fighters excuses, I still think 40% Alex beats 40% Ank, based on how both fights went. Ank turtled up because he was hurt. Simple.

Either way, it won't matter. Alex seems pretty set on going to heavyweight and then boxing.

Imo this. When Pereria rushed him and just kept in his face Ank just wasnt prepared for it. Then again to me fight was over when Pereria smiled during his "staredown thing". Before bell Pereria was just ON, confident , ready.
