He couldn't handle the pressure.

I for one am happy for his honesty and didn't really lose much stock

Fast-rising prospect Yair Rodriguezwas on his way to becoming the UFC’s next big name. ”I couldn’t handle the pressure. It exploded. I was being really hard on myself,” Rodriguez said. “I was becoming crazy, honestly. It was weird stuff.”

”I wasn’t listening to my coaches. I was getting mad at training,” he said, referring to his camp in preparation for the Edgar fight. “I thought I was right about certain stuff. I think during the process of growing and becoming a star, you just stop trusting a lot of people. I started putting myself in a bubble and it really affected me.”

Ok, first off: I think he is a very good fighter, and I think he might even become a star one day. He's got a lot of potential. Besides, good on him for being honest about how he feels.

That said, I think he would have lost regardless. Pressure, no pressure, he wasn't ready for Edgar. Simple as that.

Not everyone is going to be Frankie Edgar. I'd actually be interested in him fighting a guy like Aldo who doesn't go for as many takedowns.
