I used to like spoken word, a very long time ago.

It never comes across on the page, though, and it's more performance than anything else.

Yeah I agree. The only paper poet I really enjoy is Ron Padget, and I might have just spelled his name wrong

I always liked EE Cummings.

I broke up with a girl and she sent me this, and I almost took her back.

it may not always be so; and i say
that if your lips,which i have loved,should touch
another’s,and your dear strong fingers clutch
his heart,as mine in time not far away;
if on another’s face your sweet hair lay
in such silence as i know,or such
great writhing words as,uttering overmuch,
stand helplessly before the spirit at bay;

if this should be,i say if this should be—
you of my heart,send me a little word;
that i may go unto him,and take his hands,
saying, Accept all happiness from me.
Then shall i turn my face,and hear one bird
sing terribly afar in the lost lands

That's beautiful

I fell in love with his style and spent years trying to write like him, but I always sounded mentally challenged.

I bet it's not as bad as you think it is. I go to a writers group every Monday and some "poets" are atrocious.

I enjoyed the old Irish poets as a teenager but can't quote them anymore.

Do you really?

I used to attend workshops a long time ago.

Words are like french fries
They can be tasteful, filled with salt
Sherdoggers always cry
And make threads through their alts
