I can't take Figueiredo as the real champ

He didn't beat Cejudo, which isn't his fault. Cejudo wants more money (according to Dana) or is retired. It still makes it hard to get behind any new Flyweight Champ, fair or not. If he beat Mighty Mouse, who had the most incredible run at the top of that division, or maybe any UFC division, then I could overlook the fact he didn't beat Henry.
Cejudo is an absolute genius. You can't write better story than this. Beaten DJ-TJ-Cruz, defended two belts, retired as champion. The moment he steps against Figueiredo and / or Yan, his whole GOAT fairy tale may get shattered.

I know he's a bad ass and would destroy most of the flyweights in the UFC and should be favored over any active flyweight but the guy never beat any of the two "real" 125 lb champs.

I know, my opinion means nothing, but it's a forum and I'm curious if other people are having the same difficult time taking him seriously as champ? It's like Jan as LHW champ after Jones moved up, but maybe worse, because at least Jan smoked the guy who gave Jon a tough fight and sent him packing.

What say you, Sherdoggers?

I got no fucks to give. Enjoy watching him fight.

I take him seriously as the champ. He made me a fan following the brutalization of Benavidez, and quick work of Perez.

I like the idea of a berserker as a FLW champ.
this
Fig is a savage and is at his peak
as good as it can be for FLW

I can't, beat 40 year old Faber and 2 fight losing streak, zero wins at 135 Aldo to get the belt. Aldo gave him a really tough fight as well. Now it sounds like he pulled out of the Aljo fight..
Aldo is shell of his former self, mentally destroyed by Connor McGregor. He will never win a decent fight anymore.

You don't know what I'm ranting about? You're the imbecile who quoted ME, and then wanted to call someone a padded record can who got fucked in a split decision to mighty mouse, while you suck on a dude for winning a split decision against mighty mouse under similar circumstances.
lol "very green Moraes" had more fights when he fought old Torres than Cejudo had when he fought for the title, then used all that vet experience to completely gas against Cejudo after piecing him up 7 years later.
Cejudo is a Top 10 all time at 125-135 right now, not #1 unless he wants to come back and actually defend a title.
His reign is about as credible as Joe Warrens at 145, another overhyped wrestler with some names on his record because he had some great matchup-effective skills. Difference being Warren stuck around to actually keep facing guys at the peak of the game. Cejudo is Mcgregoring his way out of being a real titlist.

It's also hilarious to watch you lie about the Benavidez fight, as the point deduction made absolutely zero difference in the scorecards, which had Benavidez winning by 2 pts on 1 card, and 4 on another, so 1 point is still a loss. Try harder fanboi. I'd love a rematch, but it's still Cejudo showing he is nothing more than a contender for the top seat, not some special legend.

Lol, you're 1 angry incel

Khabib never beat the champ.
Jan never beat the champ.
Petr Yan never beat the champ.

I like how we could potentially have 3 different FlW GOATs to argue about instead of the usual 2.

Flyweight probably has the best first 3 champions of any division.
DJ/Cejudo/Figueiredo are awesome fighters.

I thought this was going to be some "h8r" posting, but was instead pleasantly surprised. You do have a point, sir.

However, he is, indeed, the champ. And he'd most likely love to prove himself against Cejudo, like any real champ, given the opportunity. Saying this as someone that would favor CCC against him.

"He can't fight someone that isn't fighting.", Captain Obvious (me :) ) quipped in harsh terms.

If you go that way, almost nobody is the lineal champ besides Stipe and Khabib.

Khabib never beat the champ.
Jan never beat the champ.
Petr Yan never beat the champ.

Khabib beat Conor later, but I get what you're saying. Yan is another who needed to beat a top tier champ. 135 is so messed up though, worse than 125 even.

Maybe that's part of why I'm having these thoughts. Mighty Mouse is the best 125 pounder in the world to me, even if he's fighting at 135 in ONE (I know, the weight cutting deal, but whatever).

Deiveson is a killer but I just feel like he lacks a signature win. Joe B was never a champ and he didn't get to defeat MM or Cejudo, the two best at 125. He feels like a bad ass paper champ, kind of like Cormier did. Even after DC bear Alex and Rumble, he still was hard to take 100% as the champ, since he lacked that big signature win at 205. He beat the real champ at heavyweight, but never at 205.

This. CCC would beat him too.

Cejudo hasnt beaten a ranked Flyweight in two years, to what extent can you still consider him the champ without fighting anyone?

The same goes anytime anyone vacates a belt.
This is Sherdog.
You have ppl considering Conor to be the "real" champ at 3 weight classes.

Nah would absolutely disagree. LHW- Jones, DC, Couture, Tito. Any combination trump those 3, even if you exclude Jones for being juiced to the gills.

Tbf didn't Joe B beat Cejudo albeit in rather controversial circumstances, it certainly makes him consequential.

The first three LHW champs were Shamrock, Tito, and Randy.

Why would Mighty Mouse come back and how exactly? He's under contract to One FC and the current champ and they are paying him more than he was making in the UFC.

Cejudo on the other hand is quite possible
People on here can't accept that DJ wanted to go to ONE.
