I cant belive people were comparing Conor to Muhammad Ali.

I wouldn't say Ali was the best HW of all time, but I certainly wouldn't say that he was overrated.

Ali had a great sense for the the #1 skill in boxing: timing. You add some of the best footwork and handspeed ever for a heavyweight, a great jab, an excellent ability to roll with punches, and other abilities.

It might have been slightly unorthodox skill, but skill nonetheless.

Quit parroting Larry Holmes.

Your first two statements are mutually exclusive. Ali is regularly referred to as "the greatest of all time". It practically his title for a lot of people. If you don't believe it then he is, by definition, overrated

Only a very dumb MMA casual would do this. Conor isn't a real champ and his "lol look at all my money" BS got old, just like his trash talk and his now gone aura. He's turning MMA into MTV Cribs.

Says a guy so obsessed with him he can't avoid a thread about him or having him as his avatar.

I can't believe threads are still made about him. He's only relevant because we can't shut up about him for who knows why.

So basically, he is only relevant because he is still relevant?
;)

One loss does not kill a career!

As far as charismatic fighters go he's the closest to Muhammad Ali since Muhammad Ali. That's why people make the comparison.

As I said before, Conor is a great fighter and has done some pretty great things in the octagon but compared to Ali? This man was showing a style no one in the HW had seen, he was running through the competion with dazzling footwork and impressive KO's, even after he got out of the draft mess he was able to become champ and have legendary fights, thrilla in manilla, rumble in the jungle, these are historic events.

done great things in the octagon? Lucky punch in one fight then getting murdered in another when he tried to call someone out.... Look at all his competition prior to that...

get a clue shit sippers

If Conor had a Gsp resume.. Title defenses etc . the comparison would make more sense. Conor seems completely different to me though, its more narsicissm than confidence. Hes retiring, looking at other sports etc. When he loses and cant have his way.

"It's too early to tell if Conor is one of the greatest fighters ever, though we're getting close [to being able to tell]. A win over Jose Aldo would get him going in the right direction, obviously. But I can tell you this, without reservation: He is the greatest mental warfare fighter I have ever met. Ever. The best. He doesn't just fuck with the guys he's going to fight. He fucks with everybody. I know it's sacrilege to compare anybody to Muhammad Ali in anything in the fight business. You don't ever want to be comparing people to Muhammad Ali, but he's the only one who comes to mind when it comes to the mental warfare that Conor wages."

- Dana White

Even in that quote, he's expressing reservation about even bringing it up.

Thanks for proving my point.

Ali could never had gone up a weight class so yea I don't think we could ever compare them either.

I don`t remember anyone comparing him with Ali stylistically let alone their lifes like you did(talking about war and shit), they were compared mostly because of the trash talk, and in that department Conor is probably the best ever. Pointless thread about Conor to only get viewers.

Conor doesn't touch Ali in the trash talk category. Sorry, but no.

Even Conor has expressed discomfort with the comparison.

If Mcgregor was actually Ali or "explosive" he would be hated by the majority of his fanbase.
