Conor is a big draw in a relatively small sport, he is a great trash talker and a very good fighter, he has shown that if you talk a lot of show a lot of charisma people will tune in and watch, love or hate, he understands the showman aspect of the sport, we have all known this but he is just a guy who really embraced the role. Some might say that he is trying to change the sport by "fighting the man" to get the money fighters deserve and in turn might lose his title.
Ali on the other hand lost his title because he refused to go to war, a war that he and many others believed to be unnecessary, ("I ain't got no quarrel with the Viet Cong, they never called me ") he also converted to islam and changed his name, which he felt was his slave name.
As I said before, Conor is a great fighter and has done some pretty great things in the octagon but compared to Ali? This man was showing a style no one in the HW had seen, he was running through the competion with dazzling footwork and impressive KO's, even after he got out of the draft mess he was able to become champ and have legendary fights, thrilla in manilla, rumble in the jungle, these are historic events.
Conors career is not over and he may very well become something special but Ali is a special sportsman, he is more than a sportsman, he is an icon and a piece of history that will continue to be remembered for a long time.
The Greatest.
