Conor is a big draw in a relatively small sport, he is a great trash talker and a very good fighter, he has shown that if you talk a lot of show a lot of charisma people will tune in and watch, love or hate, he understands the showman aspect of the sport, we have all known this but he is just a guy who really embraced the role. Some might say that he is trying to change the sport by "fighting the man" to get the money fighters deserve and in turn might lose his title.

Ali on the other hand lost his title because he refused to go to war, a war that he and many others believed to be unnecessary, ("I ain't got no quarrel with the Viet Cong, they never called me :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:") he also converted to islam and changed his name, which he felt was his slave name.

As I said before, Conor is a great fighter and has done some pretty great things in the octagon but compared to Ali? This man was showing a style no one in the HW had seen, he was running through the competion with dazzling footwork and impressive KO's, even after he got out of the draft mess he was able to become champ and have legendary fights, thrilla in manilla, rumble in the jungle, these are historic events.

Conors career is not over and he may very well become something special but Ali is a special sportsman, he is more than a sportsman, he is an icon and a piece of history that will continue to be remembered for a long time.

The Greatest.

I can't believe threads are still made about him. He's only relevant because we can't shut up about him for who knows why.

TS, no one was comparing him directly to Ali.

There are similarities in their persona however, and if Conor didn't lose and kept winning he'd certainly been on his way to that sort of status.

That's the thing though...he DID lose an he hasn't even defended his title yet. His persona shouldn't even be compared

They have similarities, the superlatives parallel each other. Ali is far greater,I can easily see how the comparison is made. Btw your thread title sounds way worse than your actual post(i'm going to assume this was intentional).

This is unfortunately true. I don't mind talking about Conor, i'd rather it be toned down significantly but it's bearable.Ronda however.................................:(:(:(:(

Ali is the most overrated boxer of all time. Not that he wasn't good, but he is overrated. In a way TS correct as much of Ali's high regard has nothing to do with boxing whereas Conor's fame remains tied to his sport.

Explain the Irish Ali

Was this before or after they were comparing him to Jesus?

To me it sounds like you just wiki'd Ali for the first time.

This thread has been done to death. People were comparing Conor's charisma and brash predictions to Ali, which is understandable. Anything more is nutterballs

I don't believe this could be happen. M. Ali can't be compared to anyone in extreme sports of this era.

I don`t remember anyone comparing him with Ali stylistically let alone their lifes like you did(talking about war and shit), they were compared mostly because of the trash talk, and in that department Conor is probably the best ever. Pointless thread about Conor to only get viewers.

NEWSFLASH, Ali wasnt undefeated

Only a very dumb MMA casual would do this. Conor isn't a real champ and his "lol look at all my money" BS got old, just like his trash talk and his now gone aura. He's turning MMA into MTV Cribs.
