I cant believe a KO like this doesn't cause serious neck damage

After initially jumping up and making some sort of excited exclamation I got a terrible, sinking feeling upon seeing the replay (Rose vs Andrade). First time I thought I may have witnessed a life-altering injury. Scary stuff. Andrade is a beast. In a 5 rounder I take her over rose every time. Rose was in trouble in round 3 of the rematch.

Lol. Believe it or not, doesnt matter. But I definitely should not be here right now. I honestly dont understand it. Car wreck at over 100 down a steep mountainous road when I was 17. Motorcycle wreck(helmet saved my life 100%), overdoses, fell through a frozen lake when alone and couldnt get out for over 2 minutes. I'm an atheist but it does make me wonder some times, why the fuck do I keep getting spared? Is there some reason I'm supposed to stay alive?

After the wreck, my dad went to look at the car from the road to try and figure out how the hell to get it out. It was like 100 feet down and 50 feet out from the road(steep mountain road with a dropoff on the side I went off). A state trooper saw him standing on the side of the road and pulled over to ask him if he needed assistance. My dad pointed at the car and said his son was in that accident last night and hes just trying to process it and figure things out. The officer assumed it was not survivable and told my father sorry for his loss.

This accident kind of fucked with me for a while because it just made even more positive I was immortal and couldnt be hurt by shit. Which in time I learned was not at all the case. But either way those accidents where over 10 years ago and I haven't had one since. I love speed and adrenaline rushes but I've managed to keep it under control, other than fucking my life up royaly with drugs.
I read the first paragraph and part of the first sentance of the second paragraph before I quoted this post. I am now placing this dumb fuck on ignore as soon as I press post reply.

The one that worried me was Belcher/Cote, because after the “spike” Cote didn’t react and pretty much just let Belcher choke him without putting up any resistance.

After they showed the replay I saw that it wasn’t that bad, but in real time, it looked like he might have had some neck injury...

I was never knocked out in my career but I took a lot of shots over 60 + fights as a boxer & a few as a kickboxer as well. My durability was one of my best assets but it took its toll on my cervical spine as I used my neck like a shock absorber for years. So much so that once my career was over I need reconstructive surgery to rebuild it & to correct nerve damage. My neurologist did a pretty good job but I still suffer from pain, stiffness & impinged nerves that send burning & numbness down my left arm all the way to my fingertips.
Do you worry about CTE? Do you have any signs?

It can if your neck muscles are stiff. Whiplash can also occur. But if you keep your neck flexible you should be ok, just in a lot of achy pain.

No, not really. I've had pretty much every sort of neurological exam, scan & imaging done on me as well as a host of cognitive tests done. And they all show nothing to worry about. My doctors have told me that if there was going to be any sort of a decline in my health as a result of my career that it would have shown up long before my age ( I'm 57 ). So, I think I'll be OK.

oh, brilliant! glad to hear, man :) yeah if you're 57 and feeling fine, I'm sure everything will be okay
that's great

That was an absolute hammer. The way his head flies back reminds me of Gary’s Mod on PC. Rubber band physics.

I look at that and think Klitschko is lucky to be alive. The fecker didn't even go down. East European beef right there.

Thanks, I appreciate that.

And, yes, I realize how fortunate I am to have come out of my career unscathed as far as my mental faculties are concerned. I know of far too many of my fellow fighters & friends who weren't nearly as lucky as I am. Some are already dead at a relatively young age due to the ravages of pugilistic dementia & others are living in assisted living facilities. It's sad.

The whiplash on Chucks neck when Rashad clocked him is prolly the worst I’ve seen

Yea, sure you are. It's cute how you think anyone gives a fuck

I know these aren't normal people but top level athletes that work on neck strength but still. Francis hits as hard as a Ford Escort going 60 mph. Normal ass people often get into a 40mph fender bender and have neck problems for life, its very common! So how in the world does Reem not have some neck issues from this?

I would normally agree with you, but that second punch by Ngannou is what put Overeems neck back into place. Ngannou knew that first punch dislocated his neck, so the 2nd punch snapped it back in place. Overeem should thank Dr Ngannou Escort.

Being knocked unconscious is your body’s way to protect you from the impact of a devastating blow, you would have to land from like an aerial position to really damage your neck specifically
That is just plain untrue

No idea but the body can sometimes surprise with how much it can withstand. Here's another devastating uppercut from David tua

Sweet video but the final KO blow there was a left hook
