I bought a PS4. Now what?

Generally speaking, the Genesis was more powerful than the SNES. One of my childhood friends used to always shit on my SNES, usually rooting his preference in graphics, but really it was just because he liked Sonic and Mortal Kombat more than the Mario games and Street Fighter II. In reality, prior to the rise of 3D graphics, the real benchmark was the quality of shading and art style.

But I remember kids being enthused with how much better games would look from generation to generation back then. I remember the boys debating hype material for systems like the Jaguar or 3DO on the bus rides home. Back then the leaps were larger due to the diminishing returns effect of the polygon count.
That's weird because both MK and SF2 shit all over the Genesis versions in terms of graphics and sound. Of course the biggest thing was Nintendo stupidly censoring MK1 (and removing the "racist" intro from SF2).
As for the actual hardware, the only advantage Genesis had was a higher clockspeed. The SNES could display 4x as many colors onscreen and had 8x as much memory for sound.

I bought a PS4. Now what?

now you can use it to load hulu/prime in an attempt to justify buying the console.

at least, that's 98% of my ps4 usage.

You also thought Microcenter had the best prices on GPUs so it's not my memory that's needs to be refreshed. :D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_NES_CD-ROM
That was a cd-rom add on, like the Sega CD, which was sony cd-rom.

What I’m talking about is the whole new console, what eventually became the PlayStation was pitched to Sega first. And they turned them down.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.usgamer.net/amp/sega-and-sony-almost-teamed-up-on-a-console

And in my area microcenter did have the best deals. That’s why they sold the f out, they also sold out of ALL I-7 processors!

One thing you aren’t thinking about is that the snes is two full years younger than the genesis.

The genesis was on the market for two years with the NES, which graphically it stomped all over.

Yet the Nes still out sold it in most markets.

I was at Macy’s when they did the big display prelaunch show of the Genesis.

It was crazy for a console at the time it was a big deal.

But Nes still out sold it.

Nintendo was always playing catch up to Sega graphically until Sega started blundering with the 32x /jaguar timing confusions.

Play Doom on the SNES, and play it on the 32x.

The 32x shits all all over it, down it’s sides everywhere.

Yet they still couldn’t outsell the lesser console from a hardware standpoint

I still have a master system, and a genesis with cd and 32x add ons that I’ve owned since new.

Not at good comparison. What does that laptop have to do with a PS4 slim vs. a PS4 pro? You have a huge amount of choices with laptops and two choices when it comes to PS4's.
Probably why the comparison was rooted in equivalent cost.
You didn't answer my questions so here they are again,
So do you still think I am wrong for getting the slim over the Pro? Or are we in agreement here that this entirely depends on the preferences and circumstances of the individual?
I already voiced an extensive list of reasons, and even a further predictive hypothetical.
Ever think someone has more to say than one sentence on a topic? When I said that not everyone cares about slightly better graphics it's a very easy assumption that they are basing that off of money. Most any gamer who plays current generation games would get the most high end tech if they have an endless supply of money even if it's only slight upgrades that they may or may not notice. Of course I would get the pro if money isn't an object. I said one sentence and you start writing paragraphs making assumptions about me? Yeah ok.
You didn't mention money in that post, your first in this thread concerning the topic, and he responded to that post. Don't expect others to read your mind. He read your words.

Ironic, right? Turns out he didn't know what he was talking about, but he loved the fatalities, and he was all about those gamer magazines that used to exist for each console that were little more than propaganda mills of marketing. Ultimately, beyond that, It was his preference for games which motored his errant belief that the Genesis was wholly superior.

Of course, but as I'm sure you understand, this was back when it wasn't apples-to-apples architecture, so comparisons were obscured with marketing lingo like "blast processing". Here is a fantastic source that takes a deeper dive-- annotated and all:

Horizon Zero Dawn, as mentioned in every thread about the PS4.. last of us, uncharted.... the Show... all good exclusives. Ratchet and clank was fun.

I actually have always been a PS4 gamer... So just bought an x box one s for 200 during black friday week. So Im looking for stuff on xbox to play. Mostly stuff that isnt on PC as I bought one of those earlier in the year... I asked for COD on xbox for christmas because I have friends who play on there, even though I have it on ps4. The EA yearly service looks interesting, as it has a lot of games... Was thinking maybe sea of thieves as no one I know has it on PC. Forza game looks fun

I don't want any TV or movies at all really. Anytime I spend in front of a TV is strictly for gaming, unless it's a family-time occasion.

I wish I could make some recommendations to you, but the only games I play on my Xbox are non-exclusives; Destiny, Call of Duty, Vermintide and Inquisitor Martyr.

Reading this thread with all the debate/conversation regarding Graphics potential and "who needs what" and I'm just over here shaking my head, completely content with the graphics available on my original Xbox One and this new PlayStation 4. I have been sessioning Space Hulk Death Wing and it's a beautiful game, made with the Unreal Engine.

Do you really not see how the comparison still makes no sense? Of course you can get a more current laptop for the same money. That is a completely different situation than someone wanting a PS4 and choosing between a slim and a Pro.

Not sure what you are talking about. Why can't you just answer the questions?

I didn't mention money because it was one sentence and it's pretty common sense why someone would choose a slim over a pro. The answer is always the money. Common sense.

Not sure why you want to defend that guy when he didn't try to have a conversation about it but responded with about the most douchey response possible "keep telling yourself that". I don't expect others to read my mind. Just inquire as to my reasoning instead of trying to tell me what I think or telling me what to buy. That's pretty reasonable.

Which Microcenter store? I wanna look 'em up.

You're all over the place here. The Master System was Sega's competitor to the NES. The 32X wasn't even a console.

There was two full years of competition between the genesis and the NES before Nintendo caught up and made the SNES.

Like I said graphically Nintendo has always been playing catch up with Sega. They just marketed themselves better in NA and held the market share here until Sony released the PS, which they were supposed to build in conjunction with sega(another one of segas dumb decisions that put them out of the console business)

The Genesis did out sell the Famicom(Japan version NES) in Japan and some markets but not in the US.

Nintendo didn’t come out with the n64 until 1996, 2 full years after the 32x and saturn releases. And two years after PlayStation release.

And 3 full years after the Atari Jaguar (which was 64bit)
And
The n64 was the first time Nintendo had ever been graphically superior to Sega on a new launch, they were always playing catch up the whole time.

They were never the leader in the technology market, and finally fell too far behind and stopped trying to compete in home consoles head to head with Sony and Microsoft.

And now focus on gimic style things like wii and handhelds.

They had a great run, being the top seller for a very long time in video game history, with marketing and pricing strategy and winning out over superior tech consoles.

Yeah he's basically saying that you have to transfer it onto a USB stick them put it on the PC. It's a frigging pain in the ass when done in combimation with a shitty iphone S5 and wanting to post on instagram, because I'll have to copy the files from the Playstation to the stick, then transfer onto the PC, then email to to myself, then open that email on my phone and save the video, then finally post it.

Frigging grief.
You can use IG on your laptop/PC, bro. No need to go back to your phone with it, since you'd already be at your home anyway. X1 being integrated with Windows is super helpful though, for sure.

I can't post anything from my PC onto Instagram at all. All I can do is messaging and my newsfeed, but the post option is not there.
