Uhhh, no.Stop with the FPS bullshit.
Uhhh, no.Stop with the FPS bullshit.
Uhhh, no.
Well I am an FPS fan and I play FPS games,
C'mon, Kane. You know it doesn't boil down to this. Then you shouldnt be on console. Its sadly that simple.
Jokes aside, some guys just prefer the couch & controller, and have their friend networks steeped in the console ecosystems.
Doesn't matter. They prefer the controller for FPS, and however one argues objective mapping with input, that's moot because (unless Microsoft makes a bizarre decision with the upcoming KB+M support) the playing field is a level one so long as you're competing against other guys holding controllers.I Pc gamed from the couch during 2008 till 2013. So i understand the want/need to do so. Those who buy consoles for ease of access to gaming from not having to build a Pc i also understand.
One thing i cant accept is a player whos sole purpose is to play FPS games on consoles. Input device is inferior to mouse/keyboard, controllers have a 75ms+ input delay and the display used isnt designed for gaming that additionally only operates at 60hz. The single genre that shows the glaring age of console design is the FPS genre.
Do any FPS games exist that are console exclusive?
Again we’re talking about casual gamers who just plays here and there and use the system for movies and stuff... if you don’t need the latest, newest and greatest to be able to use the slim 10-20 years from now i don’t see any problems.Rhetorical questions are by definition assertions, and your rhetorical question was itself an attack. Don't fish for pity because it took me a single sentence to shred its shortsighted logic.
Because the question isn't whether or not he is satisfied with his purchase; it abstractly ponders whether he would likely be more or less satisfied in the long term if he purchased the PS4 Pro instead, but more broadly, it weighs these considerations to the benefit of all gamers facing the same question who read this. I also challenge the sophist presumption that people know themselves perfectly, and are perfectly objective when assessing their own subjective experiences (pssst: they're not).
Then if you review Digital Foundry's ongoing coverage you'll see that the original and Slim units are inferior because they do sometimes suffer from this, or alternatively survey mass anecdote across the web. One can expect this problem to worsen as it did towards the tail end of the previous generation of consoles.
Why? Is his current TV the last one he will ever own? Did you stop to consider that he might still be gaming on this PS4 a decade from now?
4K TVs will gain US household majority share by the end of 2019, and it isn't hard to see why when I'm seeing sales for 55" 4K Roku+HDR units for $350. Furthermore, I have already expounded on the fact the noticeable graphical advantages-- to everyday people including "casual" gamers-- are evident on 1080p screens, too.
Already back to the same failed argument that I just speared.
Yea you’re not a hardcore gamer so I’m lost why the guy keeps saying you made a mistake on your purchase.. but if you’re a hardcore gamer his information seems pretty much spot onPretty close. I essentially have far more desire to save $200 now than for any of the added benefits of a Pro. I don't currently have a 4k tv and have no idea when I will be in the market to get one.
I think other gamers want to be helpful and give advice on what they think is wise with these purchases but ultimately it is up to the individual to decide what they care about. The X and the Pro are important to some people but to me seem very unnecessary.
Yea I see what you’re saying.. there’s a chance he could lose money in the long run incase he changes his mind.. but it seems he’s not really a gamer nor he care much for 4K visuals..My point on if he should or shouldn’t, was specific on IF his current tv/monitor might be long enough in the tooth that it won’t outlast the current system he buys.
And with prices dropping so much on 4k’s that he MIGHT buy one when it’s time for a new tv.
If none of that applies, or might not ever come to Fruition, then it’s probubaly ok not too.
I didn’t ever see myself getting a 4K, hell I’ve said many times I’m still happy with my 720p plasma in my bedroom.
BUT the prices I’m seeing them at now, are in line and sometimes even lower than what I paid for my 1080 in the living room.
So when the time comes for it to die, I most likely will get a 4K, it makes sense from a price point standard.
Since you can buy them now, for more than likely what he paid for his 1080
I’m not saying everyone should buy a 4K console, but I can see the argument for how it might be benificial from a long term cost perspective.
Like i mentioned before.
Buy a non pro for 299, 6 months down the road 1080p tv dies.
Buys 4K tv, since it’s the good deal he finds.
After a month or so owning a 4K tv, decideds he wants to play his games at 4K , now has to buy another console.
That’s my point.
This is an irrelevant argument. There is no "Genesis Pro" or ""SNES X" which you could have purchased when those units came out for a mere $77 more (since I'll retroactively adjust that $150 difference for inflation).Again we’re talking about casual gamers who just plays here and there and use the system for movies and stuff... if you don’t need the latest, newest and greatest to be able to use the slim 10-20 years from now i don’t see any problems.
To this day I still play snes and genesis... so if he can play the slim years away from now why would he need any of the stuff your going on about?
We can’t predict the future so maybe it won’t be like snes and genesis where any television will work with the system.
If the slim becomes useless than i can see what you’re saying, but we don’t know that and most likely the slim will prob last forever just like snes and genesis
Yea you’re not a hardcore gamer so I’m lost why the guy keeps saying you made a mistake on your purchase.. but if you’re a hardcore gamer his information seems pretty much spot on
Sometimes, when I’m not feeling like sitting in front of my computer, in the office it’s nice to just relax on the couch with a controller in your hand.Doesn't matter. They prefer the controller for FPS, and however one argues objective mapping with input, that's moot because (unless Microsoft makes a bizarre decision with the upcoming KB+M support) the playing field is a level one so long as you're competing against other guys holding controllers.
As for 60Hz, LOL, good luck selling that. Have you followed this thread? I can't even get these guys to consider how they might appreciate that advantage (if they came to know it) without asking them to step out of their ecosystem, and not get spit on for it. "You don't know me!!"

FPS console exclusives?

Halo 5
Killzone: Shadow Fall (the "Halo killer", remember? LMFAO)
That's all I've got.
What? I still play the original snes and genesis on the box television.. like how I used to in the 90’s and enjoy it that way so no I wouldn’t spent the extra $77 to play in 720p or 1080pThis is an irrelevant argument. There is no "Genesis Pro" or ""SNES X" which you could have purchased when those units came out for a mere $77 more (since I'll retroactively adjust that $150 difference for inflation).
And if you could have had one of those for $77 more with the capability to output to 720p (or 1080p) all these years later I bet you even the average "casual gamer" would be kicking himself for not buying that variant-- on that one spec advantage alone.
I think a hardcore gamer is someone that spends 5+ hours everyday on gaming and pay attention to every little details about anything gaming..What exactly is the definition of hardcore gamer anyway?
The problem is what people want and care about in life can change by a lot as they get older. That is just one more layer of subjectivity on this issue. I have a family and not nearly as much time to game as I did in the past. That makes me care even less about the added features of the pro than I already did which was very little.
Even if someone has a lot of useful information it's very important to listen to what someone wants and cares about. I care so little about the added graphics of the Pro and other features that saving the money is much more important to me. My only goal was to play the exclusives on the PS4. It's strange to me that some people think that is a mistake after hearing what it is I care about.

Yea man I hear you I def understand why you wouldn’t care at all as you get older..
I’m kinda the opposite though... as I get older I could see myself becoming a hardcore gamer when I’m all grey’ed out haha.. but not really the new stuff because my favs have always been those side scrolling beat ‘em up games like final fight, turtles in time, punisher etc etc
I’m starting to play snes a lot again.. it gives you that nice lil nostalgia feeling...
Amen.I 100% expect to be gaming my entire life. Even if I live to be in my nineties.
