Hypothetically, If Gastelum wins...

He was only 5 lbs over that mourning, but was sick and he was rushed to the hospital. They rehydrated him, so that ballooned him right back up and he didn't have any time to cut any weight.

Is your source that helwani tweet?

He was 174, way less than Gastelum.

To Gastelum's defense, he wasn't 10 lbs over the whole time. He woke up 5 lbs over, but he had to get rehydrated at the hospital, which ballooned him up. I don't know if the weight cut caused him to go to the hospital or if he was actually sick with a bug.

I think the UFC will give him one more chance, if he misses again he'll be forced to move up.

Is there some real source to this hospital story, or this "I'm told Gastelum.." from ariels twitter. For some reason I just dont trust it. Seems like UFC doing damage control.

Edit. shoulda refreshed faster, HIMBOB already asked -_-

This should definitely drop him out of consideration for the next title shot. He's basically coming in at MW for this fight. Next shot should fo to the guy with more top 10 wins and who has never missed weight (Rory).

Gasstlum didn't even try to make weight. He now has the unfair advantage of not having to cut weight. The commission would not have let him fight if he was "hospitalized" the day of the dam weigh in

When Rumble weighed in at 194 for his middleweight bout against Belfort, wasn't it because he got down to like 188 and then was forced to a hospital and the rehydrated him via IV? He was still allowed to fight. About the same situation here.
