I think RDJ has the edge in terms of consistent quality of films personally but there both exellent performances which the actor brings a lot to.

Interesting thing is there pretty much opposites arent they? Jackman Wolverine really much pretty unchanging as a character outside of perhaps Logan, you get the same kind of arcs in most of his films. You could argue I spiose earlier on in the MCU Tony Stark was somewhat the similar but I think from at least Age of Ultron onwards you were dealing with a character who didnt recycle the same character arc again and again, who changed quite a bit.

Exactly. It's a shame Wolverine is winning this because it's obvious the answer is RDJ. I was a huge marvel\comic book fan but never really cared for Iron man at all. He was ok at best. RDJ made him one of my favorite heroes in the MCU.
Dont get me wrong. I could still care less about iron man. I dont find him all that intriguing in a universe full amazing characters. However, I will acknowledge that the movies definitely elevated that character like crazy. RDJ deserves every penny he gets and then some for boosting comic and merch sales as well.

I think both were great in their turns. But in terms of transformations, I think Hugh did more work. RDJ's Stark is really just RDJ being himself. Hugh in real life is a gay showman musical type. He got jacked and played an animalistic powerhouse with rage.

Ironman had a head start as the first real Marvel Movies outside Spider man as a relatively unknown character in comparison…Wolverine would never be a main character bf it’s Deadpool team up , did Iron man break pop culture? It introduced the Avengers so it had that advantage, the X Men was always far less popular characters I know this as a comic book collector even when they were peak in the 80”s outselling the Avengers which was my favorite and still is though I haven’t collected since the late 90”s .

Iron Man had much more mainstream characters to help out the character like Captain America and Hulk . Even Thor is a niche character and one could argue it’s their best character as far as ability to tell more diverse stories ( blood and Thunder was terrible) and will never be a Superman bc of differences in marketing etc etc…..
X-Men comics were popular through the 80s and into the early 2ks, especially with the cartoon. Wolverine in particular was a top 3 in the 80s and most popular for sure in the 90s for Marvel. No one was checking for the Avengers till MCU came into play. Spiderman was also always huge.

Iron Man merch was utter crap until his movie came out. Thor almost got canceled in the 80s. Only Spiderman and Hulk were popular stand alone characters.

X-Men and Spiderman were Marvels flagships in the 80s and 90s. Nobody gave a turd about the Avengers tbh. Until the movie that is.

Both seem to have 5/8 solid/enjoyable films, with 3/8 meh to dogshit films. It's a tossup.

The three solo Wolverine films are all terrible. Iron Man 2 is boring. Iron Man 3 is atrocious. Age of Ultron is a godawful farce. Five terrible films total between them and one meh. Iron Man 2 being the least offensive of all of the bad ones, so technically RDJ has less bad films than Jackman.

But I'll vote for Wolverine since he basically started the modern era of superhero movies.

RDJ Iron Man is more fun and and can keep my attention linger. Wolverine is great in doses but too much gets annoying.

What the fuck is Tony Stark going to do to Wolverine without his suit?

Wolverine would just shred him like spaghetti, all he's got to do is wait until Tony has to take a shit or bang Pepper Potts. Too easy.

Wolverine is a more interesting character. More depth and Hugh Jackman played him perfectly.

Don't get me wrong RDJ is also perfect as Iron Man. I don't understand why he's playing Dr. Doom now. Very weird.

Only Wolverine movie I saw was the Deadpool one, it was great but I was an Iron Man mark as a kid and RDJ was awesome in the role so he wins easy
I don't like superhero movies or whatever you can call XMen.. but Logan was a pretty god damn movie.

Logan (movie) was better than all the Ironman movies

So Hugh Jackman had a higher peak (with Logan) but overall RDJ had the better overall average and quality.

Xmen movies had some real stinkers

Iron Man 2 sucked and Iron Man 3 was adequate at best.

Because he's not playing Doctor Doom. Or at least, not a comic-accurate version. To play Doom correctly, he'd need to cover his face the entire time. A bit like Karl Urban in Dredd. And there's no way Disney are going to pay RDJ $60 Million to never show his face. Nor will he be hideously scarred like comic book Victor, who depending on the artist looks like a cross between a Leper and a burns victim. At most, he'll have a single scar down one cheek.
