Hugh Jackman denies steroid use for Wolverine

He is lean bulking at 55 years old. That doesn't happen in real life in a span of a few months. He isn't even bulking up then cutting.

Bro you're comparing pics of Planet Fitness Jackman to Lunk Jackman with prep time. He's obviously bulking in the second pic and I'll bet his bf is quite a bit higher, but you can't see it because of the shirt.

I went from 162 to 188 (biggest and strongest I've ever been) in 4 months at age 40 natty. And I did it again at 46. It's easier if your body has been there before. Just because the man is in his 50's doesn't mean his natural test is in the gutter and his dick stopped working. That's BS peddled by big pharma.

Of course if you spent the last 20 years sitting on the couch eating Cheetos your body will be a trainwreck. But if you've lived clean and stayed relatively fit (as Jackman appears to have done), it's still possible to put on muscle and look jacked. Shit I'd love for someone to pay me to do a bulk when I'm 55. I might just do it for fun because I can.

Please do this at 55. I will send you money for chicken.

Agreed 100% with this.

It is way easier to get back into great shape at a later age if your body is already used to it. Many people have done it, including myself

Is that the best anyone has got?

Yep thought so.

If I saw that at a beach, I definitely would not be assuming steroids. He's not even that big. Take away the veins, and he just looks like a bloke who works out.
Not sure why you're using a movie still either. As we've established, those photos are easily augmented for effect.

Out of interest, when was the beach photo taken?

That's a very specific angle with his arm fully loaded and tensed. Vs a picture of him relaxing and smiling. 5-6 months of hardcore training, that's not all that unbelievable.
Fat out of shape Losers usually assume anyone not a fat out of shape loser is on the sauce. It’s to absolve them of looking how they do. I’ve heard it my whole life. Usually hear them saying they want to try juice because it will motivate them to work harder at some point too.

Bunch of haters who can't get in shape in this thread.

What's an easy way for someone to feel better about their own lack of success? Downplay the success of others.

I remember coming across this article in my Google feed a few weeks back. It is essentially the same situation.

People were telling this woman she was lucky.. not taking into account the work she puts in to stay fit.

Hugh comes out and says he doesn't do steroids. Sherdog armchair warriors are like fuck you Hugh, you're a liar. We knows stuff and we've got lots of wolverine still photos to prove it.

I really think people don’t understand bulking and cutting. A lean person with minimal muscle under good lighting will look huge. Here’s me benching 345 natural before even really getting into powerlifting, hadn’t even been to a proper powerlifting gym yet. Simple 5x5 after watching some Dan green videos on technique. Take this body and cut down 20 pounds later and you’d have these same people squeaking on here about roids. I wasn’t even using pre workout at this point.

It is because of shit like this.

That's really not all that spectacular. Yea, it looks crazy because in one pic He's all smiles and you can't see his arms while In The other picture he's got a big mean face and his arms have veins on them and shit.

But with muscle memory you could easily tap into dormant muscle cells after 5 months.

Are you serious about this dormant muscle cell stuff?

Looks like it's from 2012 when Jackman was 43, right after or during filming for the Wolverine:

https://www.today.com/news/so-vein-check-out-shirtless-hugh-jackman-1b6060159

The key point that everyone keeps saying but others keep ignoring is that Jackman is a skinny lanky dude with lean genetics. I'm a skinny dude with lean genetics. Often people get like that through a combo of genetics and focusing on cardio - in my case it was running and combat sports. In Jackman's case, it was being a pro theater and stage musical performer. If you're built like that, it's easy to put on more muscle by lifting heavy and forcing yourself to eat more. And the extra muscle will be very evident if you're lean. I've done that multiple times in my 40's. And even when you're bulked, you're still leaner than a lot of people in shape.

There's a reason shirtless scenes of Logan focus on close-ups of his upper body. If they show a frame of his whole body, he's built like fucking Pablo Garza. He's a skinny dude who got natty bulked for his frame and then got really dehydrated to do his movie scenes. He's talked about the water load and then not drinking anything for 36 hours prior to filming the shirtless scenes:

https://www.insider.com/how-hugh-jackman-got-in-shape-for-logan-2017-3

Like I've said, if Jackman was on gear the whole time, he should be ashamed. He could have been WAY bigger. And based on what we've seen of Jackman it would be weird AF to do a natty bulk and then start blasting test and winstrol to hold onto his natty gains while getting lean. Maybe he used a diuretic after his water load to force more water out, but he looks totally believable natty based on pics we've seen of him in training and off-screen.

Yes, muscle memory is a real thing. If you've ever taken a considerable amount of time off or lost a significant amount of muscle from cutting, it isn't unusual to pack it on in half the amount of time that it took to originally synthesize the muscle in the first place.

They say it usually takes half the amount of time.

I believe there is some truth to this. I got back into lifting about 6 months ago, after not having lifted for several years. I started slow and weak, but now I am very close to the kind of shape I was in over 10 years ago.

I didn't read any of that study. Give me the cliff notes.

The cliffs are in the abstract.

I'll save you the trouble- this study is far from conclusive:
The concept of “muscle memory by myonuclear permanence” has mainly been based on data attained from rodent experimental models. Whether the postulated mechanism also holds true in humans remains largely ambiguous. Nevertheless, there are several studies in humans that provide evidence to potentially support or contradict (parts of) the muscle memory hypothesis. The goal of the present review was to discuss the evidence for the existence of “muscle memory” in both animal and human models of muscle fibre hypertrophy as well as atrophy. Furthermore, to provide additional insight in the potential presence of muscle memory by myonuclear permanence in humans, we present new data on previously performed exercise training studies. Finally, suggestions for future research are provided to establish whether muscle memory really exists in humans.

In other news, after reading through this entire thread I suddenly have the urge eat an entire crate of Italian Pastries:

There are tons of anecdotes online of this phenomenon happening and I've personally experienced it myself plenty of times after injuries. You get things back VERY quick.

Compare his physique with Arnold for example who took roids. Huge difference.
Fuck off.
Arnold was a genetic freak. 50 years after him being mister olympia he still has the biggest chesticles and biceps in history... and guys are taking far more gear than him now and training better.

Not everybody who takes hormones grows to be a 250lbs mountain of muscles. In fact Jackman could be very well on a low dose of Testosterone year round and that's it.

Shit.. most people who takes steroids look like shit.

It is.. but not for a 40+ years old dude that wasn't that big to begin with.
You do realise that he didn't get that much bigger right... this is Hugh Jackman before he was even cast as Wolverine. It's not like Hugh Jackman was some skinny manlet, dude always had the frame for muscle growth.
