Remember this, that any SUPER HERO movie is going to have to be able to play in CHINA. So, we are safe from having gay super heroes in movies. Thanks China!

Arguments of Rey as a Mary Sue (or worse) aside, the Danvers iteration of Captain Marvel has roots that predate the current #MeToo political climate.

Marvel has been pretty good about hewing to the spirit of the source material so I'll trust them on this. Star Wars to a great extent has abandoned its source material (canon and EU) so make of their current fortunes what you will from that.
