How would Sergey Kharitonov do in UFC ?

We are talking two different things here, Missed the entire point again, the fighters skills between orgs were evenly matched, throughout time. Even though people believed PrideFC fighter were going to wash stateside fighters when in reality they were much closer.

But hey, the hate is strong so it’s hard to believe your Fedors & Crocops couldn’t have been beaten. Wanderlei would have cashed by Liddell, Couture and Ortiz easily.
I thin you are legimitely retarded at this point.

Ffs shogun and rampage were champs, werdum was champ and Nog was an interim champ. Get this revisionist history ufc shilling nonsense outta here.

And these guys - with the exception of Werdum who improved his striking considerably - were all shopworn and well past their primes and still had success in the UFC. an old shopworn Shogun losing to a young and prime Jon Jones or an old and shopworn Nogueira losing to a young and prime Cain Velasquez - two of the best fighters UFC has ever had both in their primes at those fights - doesn't change anything

Mark Hunt also well past his prime (to be honest he wasted much of his prime being overweight and other issues - he spells it all out clearly in his book) eventually fought for an interim titles against Werdum; the same Werdum that then went on to beat Cain Velasquez.

It's really mostly the failures of Cro Cop in the UFC, and Fedor in Strikeforce that make Pride look bad in the eyes of some fans. But Cro Cop was busted up and a shell of his former self and also fought in a ring his entire career. Fedor? he was also clearly in decline even before his Strikeforce fights, and still beat Tim Sylvia and Andre Arlovski - two recent UFC champs - during that time.

Yeah agree with all of this. Basically Crocop was the only bust. And that was because it wasn't common knowledge how shopworn he was. And Fedor losing after a decade being used as any sort of point against him is asinine.

Or Alistair Overeem.

Strange. In my posting window it shows Alistair slumped and Sergei walking away. Once posted it shows some weird URL-type thing. This newer website makes this posting process for gifs and images so much more complicated than it used to be.

He was very good. And Mauro Ranollo's commentary during his fight with Arlovski was some of the funniest shit I've ever heard.

"SERGEI KHARITONOV JUST TREATED ANDREI ARLOVSKI LIKE CHRISTINA AGUILERA TREATED THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!"

Would've loved Kharitonov vs. prime AA.

Holy Hel. Apparently, he's still fighting and smoking people.

He would've done well but wouldn't' be Champ.

He had a puncher's chance on Handy, and I don't think Timmeh was a great style match for him. I know Sergei handled Semmy but Tim knew some stuff on the ground.

He would've matched up well against Murr.

I do think the Brock, Carwin, Reem, Cain, JDS era would've been hard on him.

Yep and they got old and fell off around the exact same time as their ufc counterparts. It’s a dumb argument.
At that stage as well I feel MMA was still working in "cycles", the sport was young and I think the late 90's into the millennium it started to draw in talent AND had significant money on offer for the first time meaning a lot of fighters broke though around the same point. Come the late 00's and a lot of those names were naturally coming to the ends of their primes.

Granted though there were definately some fighters like Sergei and Aleks were there form did not hold up as well but that happens across MMA, sometimes prospects form doesnt last..

It's odd to me how for many years there's been this narrative that somehow it was "proven" that pride was overrated or something after the merger.

Those guys watched a bunch of different fights than I did lol. You really have to go reaching and cherry picking to come to that conclusion.

It would be like looking at say Steve Cantwell and saying well we saw after the merger that WEC fighters just couldn't hang in the UFC. Like buddy be serious lol.

I don't think its that supprising, a significant part of the MMA fanbase have always been raving UFC brand/Dana White fanboys who will swallow any kind of spiel thrown at them.

Yeah I get it I guess. It's just weird because I got into UFC first like everyone else. But me and the boys were tracking down pride DVDs and KOTC, watching WEC on versus. Anything we could get our hands on.

I remember how excited we were when we were flipping channels and found out about the wec. Still one of the best orgs I've ever seen. So many great fights and a lot of fighters there went on to greatness after wec folded. You miss out on a lot of good stuff if you only follow the UFC.

Hell I still think about the dream lw grand prix almost every day lol.

People who got into the UFC by TUF especially though I feel like they were often fans of the "Dana White" character and the brand more than they were the sport.

If the UFC and Dana vanished tommrow but we carried on getting the same fights I think a quite a few Sherdog posters would vanish as well.

Not everyone of course but I feel like thats a factor, on TUF Dana was a significant part of the show.

He really took that Vince Mcmahon model and ran with it. I wonder how much specifically 🏃‍♀️

Would lose to jeff monson and other decent grapplers with good top control. Would beat all the strikers.

I don't think he would be any better in UFC than he was in PRIDE. I own and have seen every PRIDE event, and there is an aura around PRIDE, where most think they had superior fighters. I love PRIDE, and their shows were the best, but i'm not sure the fighters were as great as many think. Superstars like Fedor, Cro Cop, Wandy, Shogun, Big Nog, all came to the US to fight after PRIDE folded, and none of them were as good here as they were in Japan. Kharitonov was a semi star in Japan, but wasn't good enough to ever fight for the belt. I think he would have been the same in the UFC.

They absolutely did have the better fighters at HW. Justin Eilers, Buentello and Gan Mcgee were fighting for titles in the UFC when all of those guys you mentioned were active in Pride. Were you enjoying the DVDs in braille or do your eyes just not work?

I think you’re. We’re both talking about different things. You’re talking where the money was and that was in PrideFC, I’m talking about who would’ve won, had the fighters fought. Ortiz beat Wanderlei and Babalu beat Shogun, but they both never fought in PrideFC.
