How would prime Rumble Johnson do in today’s LHW division?

rumble only loses by rear naked choke. that lone KO loss by eye poke should have been a DQ win for rumble. the ref fucked up. no one decisions rumble. rumble RIP.

Met Rumble at a regional fight in Philly (2019-2020) and the guy was as chill as they come. Totally lowkey'ed the entire event, I was right near him and didnt even notice him till the end when it was over and everyone wanted a picture with him. He was pretty slim but you could see the fighter genetics in him

I know what you mean. I met Hendo, teh Chris, Arlovski, and Stipe. Their hands, necks, and heads were just different from “normal” people. Looked to be made of different stuff. None of them squeezed the handshakes too hard, but the density was different.

Hendo’s hands looked they were broken 100x. No definition in the knuckles. Just a mass of bone and muscle that would detonate your head if thrown with bad intentions.

Stipe and Chris weren’t as tall as I thought they’d be, but their heads and necks were just fucking massive.

Andre, otoh, was tall and super intense. Very gracious though. He already got mobbed for some pictures and was about to return to his seat, but I made eye contact, so he hesitantly waved me forward and leaned over the guard rail to pose with me. I was more starstruck about Andre than anyone of them, and I can’t really explain why. Dude just radiates some kind of energy.

I would favor Alex, Magomed, and Prime Jan slightly. But Rumble was always dangerous so who knows.

Alex would time him. Johnson isnt something he hasnt seen in his long career.

He could spark Jiri early but Jiri should be the favorite to pressure Johnson who had zero heart and quit in many fights.

I think today’s LHW fighters have much better pure striking than the LHWs of 10 years ago.

So not sure. His speed,power and chin would get him some wins for sure. But I could see him getting picked apart by a few LHWs today as well.

Prime Rumble might be a two weight champ right now with the state of LHW and HW. Neither are particularly high level divisions at this moment.

people in here act like he cant wrestler. dude stuffed every one of ryan baders grappling attempts. bader a 2 time NCAA D1 all american. rumble himself was a junior collegiate national champion. he destroyed high level BJJ blackbelts in nogeria and glover. 205 has absolutely shitty grappling. prime rumble at HW wouldnt get grapple fucked around either. rumble johnson hasnt been out grappled since 2012 when he failed to make weight at 185 (thats not prime rumble), and before that he got tapped twice at 170 (thats not prime rumble) when he cut 60lbs to make weight and one of those tapouts was to a NCAA d1 all american. outside of daniel cormier (one of the best grapplers ever in mma and olympic wrestler) he has controlled every fight at 205 and HW. prime rumble would destroy these weak ass divisions. Rumble RIP.
