I lost like 10 lbs in 2 days and today is the first day I can eat stuff without having it come right out after and my shit isn't pure water anymore

Load the bar up to your 1RM. Squat it. If you don't shit yourself you're recovered.

Chances are once you can eat again your weight will pretty much return to baseline. You're just dehydrated from firing out both ends.

Pedialyte, Gatorade, etc. Most of the weight that you have lost is fluid, so rehydrate and you will start feeling much better.

Here was my recent experience:

-Squatted 435 lbs x 4 on February 16th
-Got the flu February 20th.
-Squatted 415 lbs for two sets of doubles on February 24 and it felt incredibly hard
-Dropped the weight to 355 lbs x 3 x 8 sets on February 28 and the volume killed me. That should have been an easy workout.
-March 11th I have a note in my log that says I still don't feel like I'm back to full strength
-March 19th squats still aren't feeling good
-March 31st and squats felt good and strong again

Long story short, it took me more than a month to get back to feeling strong.

So, I work in places like Afghanistan, Pakistan and South Sudan. I've racked up a year of backpacking in Asia and have lived in SE Asia for 12 years. As a result, I am pretty familiar with stomach problems. I've also picked up a lot of tit-bits from doctors and other people experienced in thus stuff.

This is what I do:
  • Stop eating. Basically, if you eat, it comes out the other side and then some. That leads to dehydration, and it just sucks anyway. I have always found, when you are just pouring out of one or both ends, you are not actually hungry. You just eat because you should.
  • Keep your blood sugar up and electrolyte balance maintained. Put some oral rehydration treatment ("diarolyte" is a brand name in the UK) in a bottle of water and take small sips on it very often. Really small. Really small amounts stop you from just releasing a tonne at the other end. But it keeps your electrolyte salts up. You can also just stir some salt into a can of coke or something like that. Sounds gross? When you are getting dehydrated from diarrhea, coke with salt in it tastes like the best milkshake you ever had. I was told it's better if the coke is warm and flat, because cold and fizzy can irritate your stomach, but I don't believe that one.

Yeah my diet is pretty much milk/yoghurt/coke/gatorade right now. Tried something solid and I got awful cramps again, really feel like not eating is the best way to go to recover

In my experience, that's the way.

Wait it out until you are genuinely hungry. Then have a small amount of something pretty bland- just some rice or potatoes or something. If you can keep it down, 4-6 hours later, eat a little more, with some other food groups. Work back to eating properly.

It depends how bad it is, but if it is really bad, rushing backing into eating properly can set you back.

I hit huge triple PRs two weeks in a row after having the flu.

Coming at your theory, brah.

When should I see a doctor? I'm not sure my anus can handle another 2 days of shit spraying

I was out of commission for two days fully and the third day was recovery. I couldn't eat properly for a week or so after that too. I had significant weight loss too, but I did have the abzors.

There's been times where I've been sick and been absolutely fine straight after, and there's been times where it's knocked me on my ass for weeks afterwards.

I guess the only thing is to do what you can do, and just try not to fuck shit up for yourself too much by trying to rush back into it when you're weak.

Same, I got a model face now because it's completely drained and an 8 pack, could probably compete in Men's physique but I'm someone who trains for strength and I'm afraid of how big the damage will be when I return to the gym.

Going to try to introduce cheese today seeing how calorie dense it is with the right nutrients

Bad idea bro.

Way too rich for your bum life.

Remember that he's talking about the stomach flu, not just being sick. Most of the time that I am sick with a cold, I'm fine afterwards. Stomach flu is a completely different animal. It's two days of puking, shitting, body cramps, little food, dehydration, etc.

Whenever you want.

You can always take Imodium or some similar tablet that prevents diarrhea. I think it is available over the counter.

I gather some people have this idea that you have to let it out to somehow get rid of what is making you sick. AFAIK it's not true. You have the diarrhea because it is how the bacteria or virus spreads itself- you shit, your contaminates water sources. The shitting doesn't make you better or relieve you of anything. You're just as sick afterwards as you were before. So knock yourself out, take some drugs.

Thanks it's going a bit better now, but my stomach is still incredibly sensitive, tried to eat at a surplus yesterday to make up for lost calories but boy that was a bad idea

Yeah, terrible idea. If it is bad, re-introduce food gradually.
