How to get a physique and athletic ability like Yoel Romero?

I would love to get in shape like Yoel Romero. I just am a lazy fucker lol. I know smartasses will say "PEDs" but seriously, the dude is a beast. Is there any way I can get to even 50% of his athletic ability and aesthetics? His is well proportioned, thick solid lower body, his upper body is like twice as good as a greek god. I am actually extremely envious of Yoel Romero's physique and athletic capabilities.

I’m a 39 year old, lifelong strength and conditioning enthusiast, gym rat and MMA participant from 2007-2013. I’ve spent more time training and in gyms than you’ve spent in school and I guarantee I’m in much better shape than you.

We all have a genetic muscular potential that many of us will never achieve and yoel is practically at his peak so if you say these guys you know make him look puny then I'm convinced they're on something, without a doubt. You come off very naive.

Guys on gear will openly discuss their cycles with anyone they trust. If you train hard or are an athlete, guys are happy to discuss it. Guys I don’t even know will discuss PEDs with me at the gym all the time. Whether they’re 18, or 48. Whether at the strength & conditioning gym or the MMA gym.

I really do not understand where you’re coming from in this thread.
 
Romero has been training literaly his whole life and up until a few years ago had no access to shitty processed food, drinks pumped full of corn syrup and sugary shit.

Exactly. They love to talk about it. Especially with people they train with. Thanks for confirming my point. I knew what the guys I was training and living with were doing.
 
You won't get there as a "lazy fucker" - simple as that. Consistency is key and to attain such a look would impact every facet of your life.

The aesthetics are doable in 3-5 years of dedicated lifting with good nutrition. The athleticism is where it gets really hard and I think most people simply couldn't get there even if they tried.

Also - while you can work on proportions to a degree, certain shapes of your body are predetermined by genetics. Whether you have a four, six, two or eight pack is pre determined. Few natty people seem to have those amazing cannon ball delts, etc.

they didn't look out of shape when they were on steroids. Tim was 6'7 and shredded, and Barnett went from a +300lb bag of blubber to an in shape, toned body similar to Stipe.

Do you consistently maintain sub 10% body fat? Can you bench your body weight for 50 full reps for a warmup? Then go on to do ~50+ more reps of heavy work between sets? Still on bench, before you get in to another 90 minutes of hard work? Can you do 30 full widegrip pull-ups for 5 sets after doing ~120 reps (broken up between sets) of deadlifts, after you’ve cooked your CNS?

I’ve been at this a long time and I know my work rate is objectively significant.

My standing vertical and long jumps are freakish.

So yeah. I expect I could outwork you on a pound for pound basis across the board.

Possibly not. But I doubt it.
