Get rid of the pussy Unified Rules. Keep 12-6 elbows, add foot stomps, soccer kicks, knees to a downed opponent, and upkicks. Fights would be wildly more entertaining. (Also fine refs like 25% of their check for stopping fights too early - we need refs like Russian refs that let fights go until the other guy is LITERALLY not able to continue. Not this pussy bullshit of "he got knocked down so stop the fight!!!")I could come up with more radical stuff (frankly I think they should merge light heavyweight & heavyweight), but those the are the common sense ones that we should adopt immediately
- Get rid of men's flyweight. Sorry little dudes, maybe you can go fight in Asia or somewhere. They're too small and it looks bizarre, like we're having little kids fighting or something
- Get rid of every woman's division other than 115. Then try to actually make 115 better- sign prospects, slowly develop them over time, etc. I'm not as anti-WMMA as some people on here, but my God is women's 135 just absolutely eye-bleach awful. The skill level would be low even for regional MMA
- Once 115 is actually decent (like in 5-10 years), pick one new female weight class and slowly develop them. 105 or 125, I don't care. They can only fight on the prelims until they actually get decent (so probably another 10-15 years)
- Legalize knees to the head of a grounded opponent, and upkicks everywhere. Obviously
- Get rid of 5 round fights. This is the controversial one. Yes, championship fights are traditionally longer. But mostly make they for slow-paced decisions. Make everything 3 round fights, incentivize them to fight harder. It's a sport, the point is to entertain us. Attention spans are getting shorter
- Eye poke is an automatic point deduction
Also, get rid of drug testing and encourage performance enhancers. (I'm serious, look at Ubereem and Pre-USADA Belfort.... they were WAAAAAAY better and more exciting than Post-USADA). Drug testing, terrible reffing, and Unified Rules have ruined MMA.
