I think I have heard in CNN that Libya has the best oil in the region and that securing Libya is important for the Global oil reserves or something like that.


Could it be that the powers that be just wanted Libya crushed so they can't produce oil so the rest of the world will buy from Saudi and other pro western oil producers.

They all attacked Clinton from the anti-war-left, all the while knowing that Trump supported Iraq and Libya, and now have cheer led Trump's efforts to liberalize/deregulate drone usage and his stoking of tensions with North Korea and Iran, two countries who pose absolutely zero threat to the United States.

Say what you will about Clinton, such as that she sucks entirely, but I am fairly positive that she would have been less of a hawk than Trump has been and that the far left, which has been needling her over Iran/Libya for years, could have forced her to take a more nonmilitaristic stance.

Gaddafi planned to roll out plans to nationalize African oil and undermine French and English economic strongholds in the region.

Obviously, like any autocrat, he was deeply flawed. One does not position themselves atop a country while being perfectly selfless and inoffensive.

However, it's deeply moving to see some levels of American appreciation for comrade Gaddafi years after his death, even if often artificially and patronizingly from the right-wing. To be sure, had the Libyan disaster note been used as a talking point against Hillary Clinton, such reasonability would never have taken hold in the American right, and they'd view him with the same reductive and dismissive disdain as they do other great non-American heroes like Che Guevara, Thomas Sankara, and the like.
