he didn't want to finish Francis Ngannou, because the guy was too strong, and Stipe could have lost position going for a submission, so laying-n-praying on Francis was the best path to victory? Basically, Stipe was Tyron Woodley mentality versus Francis Ngannou.
Now, I am not a Stipe hater. I am indifferent to Stipe. He may very well be the best HW to date (better than the bald chubby Russian, who can only fight inside the ring with PRIDE rules), but we can't really know because the talent pool is so shallow.
I don't think any current HW is beating Stipe, and most of the current HW contenders are old dogs who have already been KO'd before facing Stipe. If Francis Ngannou has the right mentality, I think he is the only guy who can give Stipe a brutal war.
Hopefully, I am wrong and a couple of really talented guys can pop out of the blue, and give Stipe the kinds of fights that build long lasting legacies.
