I arrived in Bangkok last night. I was only able to sleep 2 hours because of the jet lag. So I decided to grab my gear and train at the new Yokkao Gym in Asoke. It's just a 5 or 10 minute walk from my hotel. I'll write a full full review later (it was a very good training experience) But I just had to share this gem of a video I took while there. :)

The Thai's were having to much fun with the guy.

Ahh, yes, the old "so frustrated that I'm not winning at all so I'm going to start throwing spinning shit" beginner in sparring.

Lol, most of the guys in Thailand are too experienced to get caught with what this guy throws.

Singdam still being pretty damn nice even with that guy coming with that sloppy aggression. That last leg kick was a nice touch.

LOL, I thought that was TS for a second...till I realized Ryukyu is the TS :p

thai guy is acting like a complete asshat. There is no excuse for disrespectful behaviour like that. If he, like I suspect, is in a instructor position and the rookie is a student position, it just makes the behaviour all the worse.
He may be a famous fighter, but he is acting like a punk.

He wasn't hurting him at any point of the video so what's the problem. Singdams having fun, not his problem you don't understand it.

How is he acting like a punk? He was being nice. If his partner was acting like that in a Dutch Kickboxing gym he would have been concussed...

Yup. A lot of the time with beginners who feel like they have to win, they start throwing hard or dangerous shots. At many gyms, the experienced guys will let them know that it's a case of "If you want to throw hard or dangerous shit at me, you're giving me permission to do the same". I've seen a lot of instances of this, including a guy who threw pretty hard head kicks at me during rounds who I sat down with a knee.

Singdam's keeping things light, playful and trying to be friendly about it all. It's a very Thai way to spar, to try and take the seriousness out of it. With Mr Headgear there, he could definitely learn a lesson or two with regards to the attitude he brings into sparring- it's give and take. If you're a beginner, you gotta accept you're gonna get creamed at times, and just try to learn as much as you can during the session.

If he was a total punk, he would've put the guy out. As it is, I think he kept pretty calm. He kept his wits about him, threw when given the opportunity and covered up and didn't get hit.

wow what an awkward spar!

Singdam only got nasty in the very end after the stupid guy managed to dump him one time. can't really blame him. if he didn't start kicking that fool in the ass near the end I would even say he was a gentleman about it.

what a stupid guy though. you can tell he doesn't even mean to be bad. he's just terrified having no idea how to deal with the situation.

LOL that dude really wanted to show off his full spinning arsenal. Too bad it turned out so sloppy and disbalanced.

It was fun spar to watch tho. I don't feel like anyone had any bad intentions.

I don't get what the point of this video is? Aside from 1 of the spinning backfists the guy seemed to throw his techniques with control as did his opponent. Don't see anything to get upset over nor did anyone seem upset o.o

Headgear guy is just clearly not on the same level but is anyone expecting him to be?

The point is in the ridiculousness of that guy being caught on film, while showing how a pro handles it gracefully. Pure silliness. Enjoy. It's like a National Geographic nature documentary

Awesome stuff.

I am planning a trip to Thailand to train aswell.

You should make a log thread and document you're experience, from the places you train at, the trainers, the food, restaurants, things you see etc. I think ppl would like that. Hell, I'd definitely read it !!

This sparring session was silly ans a complete waste of time for both fighters.
