How Norwegian cops deal with a belligerent man

Some places in the US would be similar I imagine, but most would not be so lenient.

At 00:02 he clearly tried a mule kick of doom warranting the use of deadly force, both of them would have emptied magazines on him resulting in about 3 hits.

And the death of his dog.

obviously every single cop in the US would immediately empty their revolves into the guy's back. Which is why we have no homeless or crazy people alive in this country anymore, and few males survive past adolescence.

They shove him into a bench and shove him back whenever he tries to move. They blatantly laugh at him when he tries to explain his frustration, humiliating him. Fucking pigs.

Camera cuts away after he kicked the officer and they are smashing his head into the park bench. Edited away the extra brutality.

At least they didn't have to turn him over to the Germans. I'd be in a good mood too.

On Liveleak front page there's also a video of an American officer arresting somebody. Compare the two, and notice how the Norweigan officers did not use the man's belligerence to justify escalating the violence themselves. The American officer responds to resistance by getting angrier, using intimidating body language, raising his voice, refusing to answer questions about what's happening, and assaulting the man being arrested.

It seems those Norweigan police understand that their purpose is to de-escalate the situation. Despite being physically attacked, they remained calm and used their words.

I see you've never been to San Fran before...

It depends on the police officer dealing with the situation.

Excellent summation. Thank you.

The problem is the cops in North America are taught to meet passive/active resistance with force instead of attempting to de-escalade.

Need more emphasis on communication part.

You should join, go and give them some on the job training, show them how its done.

This is brutally funny if you understand norwegian, :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

But they were filmed.

If the man had been arrested 22 times before, it might be time he got treated a bit more harshly.

Let's remember that the APD Foothills event was an egregious outlier. Otherwise, my opinion in this matter is still forming. I am not a fan of the increased militarization of our police force, and I suspect that my forefathers wouldn't have been a huge fan of the idea, themselves.

I don't really see what was so great about this. They physically restrained him, threw him on a bench, berated him for 10 minutes, then when he kicked the office, they slammed his head down against the bench and held him there. It's not like they convinced him out of violence. He was just too inebriated that they really had to struggle with him.
