Hot Take How much more proof do you need?

Waldo/Arlovski had a lot to do with their respective styles rather than Waldo's skill. If you don't believe me just go ahead and look at Andrei getting blasted by Mayes, who sucked ass and wasn't even some deadly finisher.

He definitely is. He's probably got some of the best footwork going in the division. Guys have a really hard time getting a bead on him to land clean.

Its a weak HW era but saying nobody from now would be top 3 from 2003-2015 is a stretch. Are we forgetting that 00s UFC had stuff like Paul Buentello and Gan McGee getting a title shot off of going 2-0, Justin Eilers getting an interim shot at 1-1 coming off a loss, mid 40s 220lb Randy as champ before losing the belt to a pro wrestler with a 2-1 record, Big Tim getting iced in under 10 seconds by a 48 year old boxer only 2 years after losing the UFC title and while still being considered a top 5-10 guy etc.

The newer generation MMA fighters are mostly better. It's just the HW division that sucks.

these threads are always dumb and super selective. not to mention its there just to slander guys who have a lot of power like Waldo.

Remember when people used to think Derrick Lewis and Ngannou were basically the same? And they would cite that if Ngannou is a top 5 HW that must mean the current crop are terrible. That looks pretty stupid now.

i dont remember Waldo "barely" beating Arvloski, but isn't that ignoring that he obviously got better. He fought Arvloski while he was in his 20s. Hey, did you know Andre Arvloski easily lost to Bret Rogers? Isn't Bret Rogers just another fat unskilled guy who hits hard? Can just as easily slander older eras.

I also have no idea why people keep using rankings as "proof" as how good guys are. Waldo having the #5 ranking doesn't mean he is the fifth best heavyweight (even from the UFC's perspective). If someone is saying that it either means they do not know what the UFC rankings mean or you are being intellectually dishonest. So either you're an idiot or a snake at that point.

There's some validity in what the TS said here.

I remember going back to UFC 146 and the entire main card being Heavyweight fights:

Junior dos Santons (C) vs Frank Mir
Cain Velasquez vs Antonio Silva
Roy Nelson vs Dave Herman
Stipe Miocic vs Shane del Rosario
Stefan Struve vs Lavar Johnson

Every fight ended with a stoppage, but just look at some of the depth 14 years ago compared to the mess we have these days.

Really hoping that Gable Steveson goes on to become a wrecking ball and runs through everyone, that's what's needed. Someone to come in and grab the bull by the horns. He might be the only 'prospect' we have at the moment.

Yeah but he's the TEXAS CRAZY HORSE or CRAZY TEXAS HORSE as Bas kept calling him.

Just crazy horse is Charles Bennett
Also, Charles Bennett is "Krazy" with a K.

I'd forgotten that in the Knucklemania PBP myself. Also had no idea he was 1-25 in his last 26 lol

so this proves that Ngannou did have a point, when he was demanding more money. Cause there are few of active mma heavyweights, who can carry the division at the highest level

Which is/was definitely not Ngannou.
