I am 43 182cm 106kg. I am now the fattest I've been.
I'd venture a guess most amateurs or club level guys overestimate their training intensity compared to the pros. Hitting a heavy bag for a bit is a far cry from what the pros do.
My training partner was a a pro MMA fighter back home in Herzegovina. Ended with a 11-5 record. He also trained with Crocop one time. No notable wins. Pros aren´t magical. What are pros. There´s 1000 levels of pro. Francis or some random low level local show guy. Our boxing amateur team also was good in Bosnia. I think we have 2 bosnian national champions. Who took the championship one year. Pro my ass. Pro is when you agree to go out there and fight without shin guards. See Frode is a pro, did he accept my fight proposal ? He didn´t. Pro is a super general team. Respect to pros and amateurs. But pro is super super wide term. Now if you are gonna say "elite" internationally elite like UFC PFL ONE FC that is a different universe. But pro is any man or woman who went in there without headgear and shin guards. Boxing, MMA or kickboxing. And there are amateurs who are extremely strong. Random people at some gym can be suprisingly good.
My best mile run has been a miserable ~6:30 when I was 98kg 17 years ago. I was always pretty good at sprinting for very short distances. Most people never expected me to be as explosive as I was for my size. I crushed our class's soccer guy who ran 4:30 mile in 50-100 meter sprints. I think I did 100 squat thrusts at a laughable 5-6 min mark(maybe even worse I can't remember any more). My other classmate friend did them in like 3:30min at 75kg.
Your body is one unit. It doesn't matter if it's your muscles, joints, nervous system, etc everything has to be able to sustain your level of work.
My point is you need a very high level of conditioning/general fitness to perform at the level the pros do.
well I am trying I am working out as much as I can, not setting a alarm clock, not going to work all year long, what more can I do. Sure should off deleted my dota adiciton earlier that cost a few sessions. I do got it installed now and just play if I want to. If I could recover I´d also train 4 hours a day. I can´t. With more fitness your ability to push goes up and you wreck yourself faster and need rest. 38 is not 26. I should stop smoking. It´s hard. It´s too much fun.
Besides I didn´t claim to be amateure let alone pro. I make no claims officially. I was asked what they do how they do it. Plus pros STICK NEEDLES with testosterone and HGH up their ass after training, I don´t.
I would die just doing Steph Curry conditioning warm ups before he even begins his basketball shooting drills. Then I would get tendonitis from trying to do what he does with ease flinging the ball at the hoop.
Just don't go overboard is all I am saying.
that Croatian guy on the contender series last event, got beat by a guy from our town but when they were barely adults. And that guy isn´t even like super good, I spared him once too. But I didn´t get into the MMA in our town when it was a thing for I don´t know 2-3 years before the gym quit. I mean our local guy didn´t end up to be really good, the guy on the contender series went on to become very good.
