How Much Cardio?

High school football season is almost over for me. I going to get back into Muay Thai training full time. I have been running a little bit at football practice, sprints, laps etc, it doesnt fell like enough. I want to start running again to build my endurance up. How far should I go and how many times a week should I do it?

I've heard a mile for every round you do With a minutes in between.

Ie do a mile as fast as possible, minute rest, and repeat
