How much can Ronda Rousey benchpress?

Well seeing as there is a vid of Tank actually benching 600 which i linked in my post you don't have to buy anything.

Which is why I am lead to believe if a bear guzzling semi-pro fighter can do it y not others.
Except that he is bouncing the bar off his chest, which isn't allowed in competition since it makes it a lot easier to lift.

Just wondering if a number has ever been confirmed. Give a good gauge on whether she could take men of her size.

Enough to be an effective fighter. There, you happy?

Impressive, no question. But I'm not going to call that sternum-buster a bench press.

His form might not be strict powerlifting comp regulation, but its 600lbs for a non powerlifting athlete.
Its fuking impressive no matter how you cut it.

The rule is if you tried to do the same thing and it would kill you it counts. You tried to do what tank did and your ribs would be sticking through your heart he couldn't have bounced it that much.
^^

That's not 600 lbs. I hate to be "that guy," but I've had 600+ lbs.across my back and in my hands (in official competition) and the bar bends much more than that.

He is benching 405 there, or at least in that neighborhood. Still a TON of weight to press raw inspite of form.

LOL back to the old whoever lifts the most is toughest eh? Stupid shit like this was debunked well over a decade ago.

I think the point is that the 135 lb men could bench a shitload more than 15 reps of 100 lbs

For the record, Liz carmouche doesn't bench 225 x 6, willing to bet my life on it.

I wouldn't bet my life on it but I guessing more like 225 1 rep and 185 x 6. I'm guessing ronda is at 205 for 1 rep. I would believe 225. I would also believe 175.

posted this in the wasteland awhile back... very impressive!

WAR TANK :D

Fake plates, the bar bend more than that at 600 pounds. Thats Andy Haman false shit.

... Mark Coleman have all benched 600lbs but again i have no evidence apart from interviews and claims.

I would believe Mark Coleman, Brock and Ken Shamrock all at about 475. I know a few people who compete in powerlifting competitions, at a state level in a small state, and 180 -190 pound guys can go well over 400 without roids and without the shirt apparatus.

It looks like 600lbs to me bro

12 45's the bar and looks like a couple small plates on the ends and clips.

Those plates are metal and judging the size they almost def are 20kg each (45lbs).
It's only when you have the rubber/plastic plates where they are the same size but you have no idea how much is filler to make the plates be sized like 45s.

besides why would Tank claim something then give the world video evidence of his claim to be scrutinized if it was fake or not true.

Yep. Tim Sylvia's take down defense was too much for the world's strongest man.

To be fair Marius was never out muscled, he just lacked fighting skills. Plenty of strong fighters in MMA too, though obviously not on the level of strength specialists (and why would they be if they are training MMA, three sports at least worth of skills).

Same reason Dwight Howard posted fake ass training videos of him repping "365" like it was 10 lbs. Athletes do dumbass promos to hype themselves or their organizations. Tank did this for a WCW promo.

Benchpress is not a very functional movement. Who cares? Let's see her snatch.

Lol it's perfectly "functional". I find it's very useful for escaping mount attempts, strength in the clinch, and posting/palming people away. Besides training only horizontal pulls and ignoring pushes sounds like a recipe for injury (pulling and pushing complement each other anyway).

We had some zeek where I worked a long time ago who was 5'5 130 lbs soaking wet. He said that he could bench 275 and wore shirts that look like they came from baby gap to make himself look big.

Needless to say we took him to the gym and he couldn't even budge the bar, took off 75 and he still couldn't do the damn thing.

Not buying 655 for Brock or 600 for Tank. Would believe 600 for Brock or any of the other 3.

Pretty sure there was a video of Tank doing just exactly that. I remember it was so heavy the bar bent a little bit.

edit: I obviously did not read the rest of the thread.

I think Tank's lift is legit. My wrestling coach was buddies with him; he was well known to be a freakishly strong guy despite his physique.

Point taken about promoting but it still looks like 600 and bar is bending about the right amount at glance but that's my opinion

I don't know how much she benches, but she can armbar the barbell in less than one second.

I don't know why people question Tank's plates. The dude is fucking enormous, has a huge barrel chest, and bounces the bar off himself like a fucking basketball. He's got plenty working in his favor to put up a huge lift.

In competitive powerlifting you're supposed to actually pause the bar on your chest for a beat. That makes the shit way tougher than even a touch and go rep which most people do, let alone Tank's shennanigans.

I remember an interview where Tank said that video of him pressing 600lbs was fake.

Tank did the 600 pound lift for an early UFC ppv event - I'm guessing the Ultimate Ultimate. Not one of the other UFC fighters called bs. He lifted the weight, albeit with a bounce. The guys in the weightlifting forumn would take apart his technique, and I'm willing to bet he has more than enough inefficiencies to improve to make up for that bounce (for example his leg drive.)
